Who ⚔ Yael & assorted nerds What ⚔ A dungeon run and other things When ⚔ After the party Where ⚔ Errywhere Content Warnings ⚔ Men with their tits out? Alcohol??? No correlation there surprisingly. nsfw i'm sorry mom
[Cool name aside, it's not cool here at all. It's rather grassy and pleasant, in fact, which almost makes up for the fact that Yael absolutely doesn't know what he's doing. Thank god for Hector's heals and for Kara and Fai actually being somewhat competent at games.
The run is progressing smoothly enough until they reach the tower dungeon at its center and something weird begins to happen. As the members of their party take damage, their armor begins to break. Leather rips and metal tarnishes. ????????
Hector and Yael suffer the worst of it because this is what unkie wants and are left breasting boobily through the dungeon before long.]
[Kicking back and enjoying the digital scenery is for nerds, but it isn't all bad. After slowly clearing out the meadow of enemies, Yael and Brambles are left alone in a peaceful flowery meadow where the sun feels no less warm and pleasant filtering down through the leaves as it does in reality.
For a brief, fleeting moment, Yael loses track of his worldly problems. He can move about and run freely in this place. He isn't in constant pain. He can lie beneath the shade of a massive oak tree and feel freedom like he hasn't in months...
Yael sighs. It's a telling sigh and he realizes it, breaking their amicable silence once he realizes what's happened.]
They really went all out on this game. I bet there are people who'd rather be here than out in the real world.
I suppose I can see why that might be. In a world like this one, you can take on a brand new identity and appearance outside of your normal, and become something even greater than yourself.
[ He brushes his fingers against some of the game's animated clovers. ]
Some people might really crave an escape like that ... especially if they're coming from a hard living situation and need a distraction. That's just not something I can relate to, though. I like this game, but I like the real world a whole lot more.
Yael is here, as requested, happy to see that the area has been cleared of enemies... and there's Fai. A bit of last night's apprehension finds him again, but it's not so paralyzing that it keeps Yael from walking right up to him like their previous conversation didn't end on a cliffhanger.
Casual as always, Yael knits his arms up above his head and leans back against a looming oak tree.]
And here I thought you were going to throw me into a volcano.
[ Fai sits down on the ground, his legs straight out in front of him as he rests back on his hands. He's been here for a while, which is evident in the severe lack of monsters. ]
I made sure we wouldn't end up somewhere like that. I don't like hot weather.
[ As promised, Fai is at the field that Yael told him the keywords to. The area is just as dry and desolate as this field type always seems to be, but Fai has managed to find ruins near the warp point. He sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the red dirt, his white shirt prominent against the surroundings.
He's sitting on the ground, back resting against the crumbling remnants of what might have been a city wall. The usual smile that's on his face is noticeably absent, instead replaced with a frown, the air about him like that of a kid who's gotten in trouble. ]
[It's novel seeing Fai without a smile on his face, but novelty isn't always a good thing. Yael supposes he might get away with sneaking up on Fai, but beyond clapping a heavy hand on his shoulder before settling beside him, he has no tricks up his sleeves, no intention of playing games. Now simply isn't the time.
For now, his hand remains over Fai's shoulder, sitting loose against stark white fabric.]
That bad, huh? Sorry. If I'd known family was such a sore spot for you, I would've left it be.
[Yael should log off. He knows he should — get away from Fragment, get some fresh air — but the idea of being alone with himself after what just transpired is an even worse idea than being alone while surrounded by almost perfect strangers.
He tells himself that being alone is what he needs, and yet the thought paralyses Yael, leaving Fandaniel lying in a pool of his own blood in front of his @ home and trudging into Fine Wine's, speeding right past Fai in the lounge to lock himself in his private room. Oh. Hope you didn't have anything you needed to say to him, Fai.]
[Yael hadn't been avoiding Hector, per se, but it wasn't his intention to run into the man on purpose. Considering their last... encounter, it seemed more prudent to give the man his space and take the same for himself, but as fate would have it, they eventually bump into one another at the carnival.]
Ah.
[Ah. Yael glances back over his shoulder, as if deciding if it's worth it to book it when Hector's already noticed him. Ultimately, he resigns himself to his fate and tips his chin up in greeting, his voice ironed out into the usual monotone.]
Didn't think I'd see you here. Are fake carnivals your idea of a good time?
[ Hard not to notice that ass when it's reflected all around him—
But in all seriousness, Hector's just as surprised to see Yael. He hadn't seen him since, well. The wall. And he wasn't in any particular hurry to see him again. Something inside him lurches, and it takes a lot of effort not to whirl on his heel and walk away, not when the other guy's already talking. ]
Not really. [ He folds his arms over his chest. ] There really isn't much else to do.
[As promised, Yael is behind the bar in Fine Wine's @ home in preparation for Hector's arrival. They haven't talked properly since their encounter at the hall of mirrors, but that's all water under the bridge, surely. They're the guardians of each other's trauma now and Yael would prefer to keep it that way.
If the choice were up to him, though, Hector would conveniently forget what he saw there that day, but that isn't what they're here to discuss. When Hector makes his way over to the bar, Yael regards him in the usual flippant monotone, his back turned to him as he pulls various bottles off the selves.]
Hm. That answer doesn't instill much confidence in Yael, so naturally, he's going to question it.]
Don't you have family there? More of a reason to visit than taking your boyfriend on a nice vacation?
[Hehe. Boyfriend. He'll take Fai on a proper date and ask him to be his boyfriend the old-fashioned way, but until then, there's no harm in seeing how Fai reacts to the word.]
[ Ah… a strange word to hear from Yael’s mouth, but he likes it. A lot.
Fai reaches down under the water for his hand, idly wondering if their fingers can get pruny in the game. Time to find out. ]
I do, but it’s complicated.
[ There’s a guardedness about his answer, a hint of wariness that might tell Yael that he only got that much out of Fai because of their relationship. ]
[What else do you do when you and two of your fellow old men all log into the @ home at the same time? Sit around and drink, clearly, but there's a card game of sorts involved as well. Some sort of 20 questions variant made with the intention of promoting... relationship building. As if any of them need that. Why would they need that?
Drawing a card from the deck, Yael sits back to read it aloud, one arm slung around Fai's shoulders, a mixed drink in hand.]
Let's see... "If you could change one thing about your appearance, what would it be and why?" Man, these questions suck.
[Both Fai and Hector are expected to answer, but Yael flicks the card in Hector's direction. You first, big boy.]
[ Hector's lounged on the opposite couch, half-draped over both the back and the arm. He's got a glass filled with wine, but the glass is just a courtesy, really, considering the bottle he's drinking out of is nestled between his legs. This one is his.
Just say you want to get pounded until you can't walk straight.
[Or walk gay, for that matter. On a normal day, Yael wouldn't mind taking the reins — he usually does — but you can only tempt fate so much before it snaps back.
Thrust to the ground, Yael grins, his anxieties beginning to abate. Better. Rough him up, string bean. You know he can take everything you dish out and more.]
Gh—
[That bony knee smarts. Yael hisses, grits his teeth, but he's pressed up hard against the shin resting over his groin. Were this anyone but Yuui, he'd feel embarrassed, maybe even ashamed, but there's no room for that now.
They're the same beast, slavering and dreadful to behold. Truth hurts, but they've both warmed up to wounding each other.
Yael's grin broadens.]
I want you to do whatever you feel like. Beat me up, fuck me, choke me. It'll all feel just as good.
[God, he really is depraved, isn't he? Yael laughs at his own brutal honesty.]
[ Fai digs his knee in, pressing his leg harder to Yael's groin, a small smirk on his lips. Were this in real life, he'd be terrified of actually hurting Yael's internal organs doing this, but this way Yael gets the pain from this without any real damage to his body. It's a win-win. ]
You're so desperate that you're using my shin? I'd be embarrassed if you weren't so attractive.
[ He feels almost guilty saying those words, but they tumble out of his mouth without any way for him to stop them. Have they still been holding back so much, even after everything?
With a quirk of his brow, Fai tilts his head. ]
You want me to fuck you, but not put my dick inside of you?
[ Sure, he can fuck Yael's thighs instead, but that's some real hypocrisy right there. ]
[ They're trapped in a game together, so what better way to spend their time than hanging out at the mall? It's very reminiscent of Fai's youth and where he used to hang out himself, so it feels comfortable. Whether or not Yael feels the same, however, is debatable.
Either way, Fai has asked him to meet up here so they can hopefully find something to do to while away the hours. He's a little bit late to their meeting spot by the food court, but at least he's rocking a new skin with a pair of black leggings... and hair as long as it in real life, tied back in the same way he normally has it. ]
Sheza~ You didn't wait too long, did you?
[ It doesn't seem like Fai feels all that guilty either way. ]
[Malls were not a part of Yael's childhood. He grew up on the streets tossing around a hand-me-down football with his fellow urchins and feeding the neighborhood strays with what little pocket money he had.
The mall was a place for the rich and privileged. Standing here now, Yael feels entirely out of place, but at least he doesn't look as out of place as a certain penguin he could name.]
Geez...
[Yuui looks ridiculous, but the absurdity of being trapped in a video game with Club Penguin himself takes the edge off. Yael's been waiting for fifteen minutes in this capitalist hellhole, but all is forgiven when his darling Pingu rocks up and smiles that sweet little smile at him.
Just kidding. Yael (playfully) bonks Yuui on the head with a closed fist.]
You're late. What's your excuse? Don't tell me you have anything better to do.
[They ended up "moving in" together much sooner than expected, if you can count sharing a room in a virtual world as living in a shared space. Yael's body runs on routine, so it's around five in the morning when he sits up in bed, smothering a yawn to avoid waking the one sleeping next to him. Pale twilight filters in through the slats in the blinds, illuminating bare, pale shoulders.
As if by instinct, his hand moves, combing through soft golden hair.]
Morning, Aida.
[Weird. He can't recall her being into video games.]
[ Those fingers are familiar in his hair, enough so that he sighs and stirs just a bit in his sleep, leaning into that touch.
Yet... even in his half-awake state, he knows that Yael did not say his name.
Something shifted, didn't it? He can feel it, something missing and empty in his own heart, and he has a feeling he knows exactly what is missing from Yael's. ]
...Sheza.
[ Whatever illusion Yael is under will be shattered the moment his name is spoken, the moment he hears Fai's voice.
[ It's early in the morning and Fai can't sleep yet again. It's typical now that he gets up whenever Sheza would normally wake, finding himself staring wide-eyed at the ceiling until he can manage to close his eyes and fall back into another restless sleep.
This morning proves to be much harder than others, however, as he just can't sleep. Closing his eyes is beginning to feel like a burden more than anything, so he sits up in bed and takes in long, deep breaths.
In. Out.
As he's breathing in, he hears footsteps approaching his room—familiar footsteps—and his breath catches in his throat. For a brief moment, Fai thinks he's finally lost it, so he practically jumps out of bed so he can open the door and confirm his newfound insanity.
He must certainly be insane, because Sheza is standing right in front of him, alive and solid and breathing.
Without another thought, Fai pulls back a fist and punches him in the jaw. It's more of a statement than anything that would actually hurt thanks to his real lack of physical strength, but it's loud and clear: Sheza has both pissed him off and broken his heart. ]
[This is about the time when Yuui should be getting up and preparing for his day, so Yael remembers. Much of what he "recalls" of the memories they've shared together were painstakingly recounted to him by Yuui.
It's been a struggle to accept that so much of what he's experienced with the man he loves has been swept away and forgotten, but Yael never forgot how it feels to love Yuui. He doubts, despite Fragment's many quirks, that he ever will.
To Yael's recollection, it's only been a day or so since he kissed Yuui goodbye and set off to challenge Hien to a life or "death" battle. A quick visit to a certain dungeon resulted in his body duplicating, which was more than enough to assure Yael that if one of him died, the other would remain in his place.
His gamble paid off, granting him a trip to gay baby jail where he was able to confirm with his own eyes that Hector didn't die. A welcome relief, though spending the night in a casket wasn't exactly Yael's idea of a roaring good time. Good thing he was only in there for two weeks a single day.
Yael reaches out to open the door, and what do you know, the door has opened itself. Cool. Do wonders never cease?
...Ah, but of course the door hadn't opened itself. Yael can't even rattle off a simple good morning before he eats an uppercut to the jaw. What Yuui lacks in strength is made up for with luck, that well-timed punch causing Yael to bite his own tongue. Owwy.]
...Sheesh. You call that a "welcome back"? What's your problem?
[A handsome wizard and a puckish rogue walk into a bar...
...And said puckish rogue is drunk enough that he nearly sloshes his bilge water all over Sir Wizard's lap. Whoops. Even if he did soil his robes, Yael knows Yuui wouldn't take long to forgive him even if he is liable to kick up a fuss. When they've known each other since the days of their youth, they're going to understand these things about each other.
Among the litany of inconsequential(?) things they've discussed this fine evening is this:]
Hey. What's the deal with you and Hector? Things seem tense.
[Oh. Curse his damn mouth. Sober Yael would have never made the mistake of asking Yuui about that. Maybe he didn't hear him...?]
[ He frowns and reaches out to steady Sheza's hand. Come on, get it together. He raises an eyebrow, almost surprised that this question is being asked at all. Isn't the answer obvious? ]
Why wouldn't they be? You have feelings for each other when you're mine.
[ Sheza should know by now how possessive Fai is, after all. ]
Instinctively, his palm falls on the left side of the bed, feeling over the sheets. Empty. He isn't there.
Yael's body acts before his mind has the chance to catch up, jerking upright in bed. Yuui's gone. Did he sneak out again to fight another battle? I won't let him leave again, Yael thought. I can't risk him getting hurt again.
The pain reminds Yael of where he is and what happened, radiating up from his leg and making him grimace. Right, his leg... Yael can still feel it, somehow, but he knows it's no longer there.
Yuui... If he ran off to another fight, Yael's going to find his disembodied leg and beat the shit out of him with it. It hasn't occurred to his drug-addled brain to simply turn his head 90 degrees and see that Yuui is sitting in a chair at his bedside.]
[ And look who's been a good boy? It's Fai, sitting right by the bed with one of those books about dogs... not like there's anything else. He wanted to ensure that he was there when Sheza finally woke up so that Fai would be the first thing that he sees, but seems like his plan didn't go exactly as he had envisioned. ]
Morning.
[ He leans forward, reaching out to place his hand over Sheza's. There's no need for him to turn his head at all, not when Fai can do that little bit of work for him. ]
[ Is this their first meeting since the Gorre fight...? Probably.
Hector feels like he needs a chaperone (Fai) for this. But he's here, checking in on people, and it'd feel weirder if he didn't say hi, so, here he is?
He slinks quietly into Yael's room, but doesn't move past the doorway. He'll lean comfortably against the frame, thanks.
It doesn't matter if Yael is sleeping or lost in thought or meditating or whatever, because Hector's an ass and he'll speak up anyway. ]
[Ah, yes, his leg. It's been a whole five minutes since Yael's pondered his missing leg at length, so thanks for returning his mind to the subject, buddy.
...It's been a hot minute since they spoke. Yael assumes Hector, busybody and mom to many, has been participating in more fights after Gorre was dealt with. Seeing as Hector is content to haunt his doorway like the world's least intimidating phantom, Yael wiggles what remains of his leg at him. It's like, you know, a greeting.]
Does it look like it to you? Rubbing it's done me no good.
[Sitting up in bed (he was napping you jackass), Yael cocks a brow.]
What brought you over? Is there something you forgot to scold me for?

Drawing a card from the deck, Yael sits back to read it aloud, one arm slung around Fai's shoulders, a mixed drink in hand.]
Let's see... "If you could change one thing about your appearance, what would it be and why?" Man, these questions suck.
[Both Fai and Hector are expected to answer, but Yael flicks the card in Hector's direction. You first, big boy.]
gets out my cane
[ Hector's lounged on the opposite couch, half-draped over both the back and the arm. He's got a glass filled with wine, but the glass is just a courtesy, really, considering the bottle he's drinking out of is nestled between his legs. This one is his.
He gestures with his glass. ]
What about you, Fai?

Just keep your dick out of my ass.
smh
You're so desperate that you're using my shin? I'd be embarrassed if you weren't so attractive.
[ He feels almost guilty saying those words, but they tumble out of his mouth without any way for him to stop them. Have they still been holding back so much, even after everything?
With a quirk of his brow, Fai tilts his head. ]
You want me to fuck you, but not put my dick inside of you?
[ Sure, he can fuck Yael's thighs instead, but that's some real hypocrisy right there. ]

treffpunkte mall, sometime during 5.0
Either way, Fai has asked him to meet up here so they can hopefully find something to do to while away the hours.
no subject

Morning, Aida.
[Weird. He can't recall her being into video games.]

Yet... even in his half-awake state, he knows that Yael did not say his name.
He braces himself. ]

update 7.0
You asshole.

Good thing he was only in there for
two weeksa single day.Yael reaches out to open the door, and what do you know, the door has opened itself.
[He's only been gone one day. Where's the fire?]

HELP, HE'S ESCAPING (THE KILLER IS ESCAPING)
...And said puckish rogue is drunk enough that he nearly sloshes his bilge water all over Sir Wizard's lap.
Maybe he didn't hear him...?]
no subject
Why wouldn't they be? You have feelings for each other when you're mine.
[ Sheza should know by now how possessive Fai is, after all. ]

leg

Morning.

post innis 11/15 probably idk
Hector feels like he needs a chaperone (Fai) for this. But he's here, checking in on people, and it'd feel weirder if he didn't say hi, so, here he is?
He slinks quietly into Yael's room, but doesn't move past the doorway. He'll lean comfortably against the frame, thanks.
It doesn't matter if Yael is sleeping or lost in thought or meditating or whatever, because Hector's an ass and he'll speak up anyway. ]
Your leg grow back yet?
no subject
...It's been a hot minute since they spoke.
