[Oh. That's unpleasant. Hector's dulcet tones are just as annoying but far less headache-inducing, but Yael ignores them.]
Seriously, this goddamned game—!
[Hector can follow after him if he wants, but Yael isn't about to be undone by a damn wall. He bears the pain to trudge all the way over to it and examine it for any remaining clues.
Why is he being so stubborn? He has his reasons, surely, but vocalizes none of them.]
The alarm bells in Hector's mind are going off just as loudly as this signal rings in his head. He presses a hand to his head, but that does nothing to relieve the pain.
He'd turn back at this point, but not when his exploration partner is doing that. ]
Yael! [ There he goes again—the irritation bubbles in his chest. He ups the pace to a jog, ready to grab him as soon as he catches up. ] What are you doing? Don't walk towards it!
[Hook, line, sinker. Hector comes jogging over like his life is truly on the line and Yael pivots on his heel to wrap his fist around his robes, pinning him back against that incessantly chiming wall.]
He grimaces as he's pressed against the wall, not sure what of this situation he likes the least. He stares defiantly up at Yael, gritting through the incessant ringing and just— ]
Stop, Yael.
[ Hector reaches to push him off him, but the—everything is too much. He winces as the pain permeates his skull, and his hand collides weakly with the other man's chest. He's not winning this one. ]
[Hector's plea does nothing to stop Yael, standing between him and that ringing wall as a similarly hard, unrelenting force working against him. It's almost eerie, the way not even anger can manage to twist Yael's expression, not even pain, simply boring holes into Hector's eyes and refusing to lend him a single inch of leeway.]
Hurts, doesn't it?
[Not the wall's incessant ringing, oh no. Yael speaks of a much deeper pain.]
Pretending like it doesn't got you this far, but that ends now. Give up, Hector.
It's hard to keep eye contact, as much as he wishes he could. The one hand that isn't uselessly pushing against Yael's chest grips at the hem of his sleeve on the hand that keeps Hector pinned to the wall.
His head hurts. His eyes hurt. His—his chest hurts. Yael doesn't need to do this. He doesn't understand. Where is this coming from?
Maybe he means give up with regards to the ringing. But the way he says it makes him think...otherwise. ]
I am not giving up. [ Hector pushes on Yael's chest with more force this time, finally freeing himself from the other man's hold. As he steps away from the wall— ] We're getting out of here.
[ Before either of them end up in the hospital?? ]
[So you're still trapped there even now. You just can't help yourself... but then again, neither can I.
The pain is swiftly growing unbearable, but it was necessary to inflict this much agony on them both to prove a point... but to who? To Hector? To himself? Points of light spark behind Yael's eyes, and with each subsequent flash comes a wave of nausea and pain. Wave upon wave, stacking and building.
Before he knows it, he's let go of Hector and crumpled to his knees. Ah. He really had pushed the man too far, but it wasn't a total waste, was it? No. No, it wasn't. Still...]
...Log out. For once— worry about your own damn self.
[Yael knows he won't make it, but that's his own fault. He could've drowned them both, so what better alternative could he have asked for but this? Even so, he knows Hector well enough to know he won't listen to him. Takes one to know one and all that.]
[ Hector staggers in place for a second, trying to find his balance with the way the noise rings in his ears. A hand to his head doesn't help, closing his eyes doesn't help—they just need to get away from this wall.
If only he hadn't nudged that piece of rubble. ]
No. [ Despite how his body struggles to keep itself together, his voice is as firm as ever. That's out of the question. ] And stop playing the damn hero.
[ He doesn't want Yael's "noble sacrifices." He doesn't want him to suffer. Because if he does as a result of this? Hector will know it would be his own fault.
And so, if it wasn't obvious already to Yael at this point, Hector stoops in and loops Yael's arm around his shoulder, leaning in a way to give him the support to stand, much in the way one used to carrying injured comrades in battle might. The height difference doesn't matter, whatever weight difference there might be doesn't matter. Hector trudges away from the wall to get them both away from that noise and to safety. ]
[A quiet laugh, neither derisive nor relieved, and it's just loud enough to ring in Hector's ears alongside that brain-rattling tone. If anything, Yael sounds... satisfied. Yeah, satisfied puts it best, digging his fingers into Hector's shoulder as he carries him away so he can't easily forget that he's suffered another defeat at Yael's hands.
What does all of this prove? That Hector can't get away from him. That Yael won't stop digging, won't stop poking and prodding until he's broken him open wide and cored him out. It's only a matter of time, Yael thinks, and he's certain Hector knows it too.
[ It's a good thing that Hector is thinking about getting away, as the possibility that they would have ended up just like Ganymede feels like it only grows stronger by the second, especially as that tone rings one last time, causing static to form around the edges of their vision right before they either gate out or log out completely.
Oh, and that wall? It was definitely warm to the touch, much like an overheated computer might be. Having fun chewing on that along with just about everything else, you two! ]
