...He wants to pinch that tongue as punishment. While he considers scolding Yael again, he puts that instinct on pause long enough to ask something else. ]

[Fai can scold him all he wants later. Yael is an expert at shutting off his brain and ignoring nags, but he exhales a small sigh of relief when Fai doesn't immediately go for the throat.]

[ That's quite a long time, honestly, especially in this day and age, where people are immediately on dating websites minutes after ending a long relationship. ]

[Said with no small amount of sarcasm, Yael leans back on his palms and grins.]

[ He resists the urge to pull his knees up to his chest, but just barely. ]

[Nailed it in one, huh? Yael laughs, standing up to pull Fai into a princess carry.]

[ Oh! He's not expecting to be picked up, but he rolls with it anyway, leaning his head against Yael's shoulder. ]

[Ha ha, what a funny joke. So funny he forgot to laugh... or perhaps it's just because he has his mouth full, leaning in to kiss Fai deep then deeper, intertwining their tongues and stealing the breath from his lungs. When he pulls away, there's an unmistakable weight behind Yael's words.]

Keep talking like that and you'll make me take you seriously.

[ It's a kiss so warm that Fai has his fingers entangled in Yael's hair before he even realizes it, only fully becoming aware of that fact when they pull apart. ]

[ The weight behind those words is unmistakable, and yet it's present in Fai's too. ]

[No sense in hiding how he feels and who he is. Fai knows better by now anyhow.]

[ He laughs, but it's self-deprecating. His heart is beating a mile a minute, his hands shaking slightly as he folds them in his lap in the hopes Yael won't notice. ]

[So he says, but his tone isn't as chiding as his words. Settling back against the ruined walls, Yael keeps Fai balanced in his hold, half settled in his lap. He notices those hands shaking in his lap. How could he not?]

[ He sighs, leaning against Yael in an attempt to relax, even thought his shoulders are tense. ]

My last relationship wasn't great. And I've never started one like this before, so...

[ A lot of people dabble in online dating, sure, but this is a whole other level. ]

[He squeezes Fai's shoulders, pulling him a little more tightly against his frame. Starting a relationship... Yael would hesitate to say they have, but they have, haven't they? He draws in a long, steadying breath of his own.]

[ He lets out a sigh, momentarily closing his eyes. ]

He said he couldn't deal with all of my problems, that he needed someone who didn't have a lot of baggage.

[But he doesn't want Fai to hear that and misunderstand, so Yael raises a hand to idly comb through his hair, continuing his thought.]

But everyone's got baggage. Everyone's got issues. It's for the better that he figured out he couldn't handle yours, but he's going to run into the same problem until he grows up a little.
