Sounds good to me--
[Just double checking his pain sensors are turned off. What signal should they use to start? Sinclair has a good one, waving his spear with a brandish and marching in. Gotta close the distance]

[ Oria starts off with a Thorn Shot, a single shot that has a high chance to crit. The chance of critting is 50/50 for this particular skill, and he's successful with a 19. But will it hit? Sinclair just has to roll 15 or above because Oria rolled a 14 for the hit... why are my rolls godly for this one time
Anyway, Oria plans on annoyingly kite the whole match, so Sinclair better think of something. ]
no subject
Rolling. It's a two, so Oria will 99.9% likely dodge this but that's okay! Sinclair is just getting started]
You really like PVP, huh?
[It's actually a little fun. There might be a brightness to Sinclair's expression as he tries to work out how to best use his skills against Oria. There's no environmental hazards or items he can use against Oria. And he doesn't have the headhen anymore to throw so]
no subject
[ Oria dodges (10) and tries to set some distance between them. ]
I think it's the most fun part of the game! If the opponent is an actual person, at least. It's no fun with CPUs. I thought your class was gonna hold you back with low speed, but it looks like you can dodge well, after all!
[ He really wanted to land that crit shot to gauge how much he'd have to attack Sinclair, but right now, he saves his SP and goes for normal attacks (12). They don't do a lot of damage, but there's a lot. ]
no subject
[That said, Sinclair doesn't bother dodging all of those gun shots - his class was focused on defence and he thinks he can tank all of it without going down too much. He'll let it chip away at his health bar, feeling the buzz of his headset when a few connect (14). Most of them skim by though. Instead, he concentrates on closing the distance while Oria sets up his next shot and lunges forward with a Triple Wield (2, 11, 11).]
no subject
Maybe it's all your assassin class training!
[ Oria has put many hours into this game despite not even having been a month. He needed something to do, he said, so he felt lucky when the chance appeared before him. He should have gotten used to the sensations by now and how to dodge better.
He manages to dodge the first strike of the Triple Wield easily (17), but then he gets smacked by the second (4) and third (1) because he very much underestimated its hitbox and range. That takes a good 30% of his HP. Steam gunners have low defenses, after all.
But he won't just stay still. He tries to disengage and get out of his range while loading up Triple Doom. One advantage to being a steam gunner is that they're very fast and what better crowd control than killing a multiple bunch of mobs at once?
This is why Oria is able to fire two Triple Dooms in succession quickly (5, 9, 10, 15, 15, 19). They're all piercing shots that ignore defense. Ganba, Sinclair... ]

I don't know if it carries over in different games like that--
[But he is very familiar with kiting tactics, honestly. Steam gunners are annoyingly fast, and Sinclair frowns a little, focusing on dodging. The first round of the Triple Doom, Sinclair dodges effortlessly (17, 14, 13) but that only has him fall victim to the next round (12, 12, 1). There goes his HP bar, as high as it is. Ow. He's down to 50% now? At least he's a class with a lot of health. But getting hit like that seems to awaken something in Sinclair and he charges in again, a relentless tank as he goes for a Thorn Dance (11). Going for blood now, and he thinks he has enough SP to go for another round after]
no subject
That said though? He won't let himself get hit by that attack (20) and since Oria is a bit of a show-off, he uses the dodged lance to leap over Sinclair's head and... he absolutely fails (1) as he does a faceplant into the ground. He couldn't even somersault in time. So lame. ]
no subject
[Oria...
ORIA
But you know what, Oria, you awakened this in Sinclair. No mercy.
Setting up for one more Thorn Dance (19), with only for a second to wait for Oria to get back up. There might be a crit (5), but mostly not. Good luck buddy?]
no subject
But at least he tried.
Oriade's HP falls from 70% to 40%. It probably would have been more impactful against a higher defense class. He'll try to gain some distance after that. Whew. ]
no subject
[It doesn't actually hurt, but Sinclair feels like saying that anyway as the shot hits (1). The curse of being slow after a major attack. Down goes his HP bar, but not by too much yet.
He doesn't let up though, going for another triple wield (13, 4, 4) which is probably ineffective but he'll keep going]

The battle should have been over when either of them had their HP dipped below 15%. But there's also a certain look in Oria's blue eyes that the virtual reality had managed to capture. Despite his usual easygoing mannerisms and the fall from earlier, he zeroes into Sinclair's range after dodging the last strike and just as Oria likes it: a set of Triple Doom shots to the face (15, 14, 9).
Will he stop after that? He doesn't know, but I rolled a d20 instead of heads or tails and 8 tells me no. ]
no subject
Oria, that's--hey--
[That breaks Sinclair out of the zone a little, as he tanks the three shots to the face. Ow. He's also below 15% now, but he's getting a little stubborn. Swinging in for a regular attack (10), out of sheer annoyance. But there's something about the look in Oria's blue eyes that pushes Sinclair a little further, and if that doesn't work, he's going to keep going]
1/2
Ah, wow... phew.
[ He seems to notice Sinclair's condition first and then his own. ]
no subject
[ A bit late, but he eventually sees it. The battle is done. ]
no subject
I can't believe you shot me in the face after I won.
[Translation: You deserve to be at 5% you jerk]
no subject
Sorry, sorry. I got really into it and forgot about the threshold!
no subject
[Sinclair can be perfectly hypocritical here because he also got carried away. But will Oria call him out on it?]
Should we go get something to eat to recover our HP?
[And energy]
no subject
Yeah!
[ He's always up for eating something, but let him wrap an arm around Sinclair's shoulders first. Here he is, being buddy buddy. ]
But I could say the same to you too! You looked like you were gonna skewer me with that lance for good.
no subject
[He's trying to recall, even as he leans into Oria. He's feeling the change in their height difference. He rubs the back of his head sheepishly]
...I guess I did get carried away. It seemed natural to keep going after awhile.
[Especially with that faceplant]
no subject
[ He will not talk about that faceplant. ]
How often did you PvP? This was actually my first one in Fragment.
no subject
Hmm? Really? I thought you had done it before. I haven't done any PVP...unless you count what I did to the admin.
[Mild guilt now, since Pete has forgiven him]
no subject
[ Matoba is shady, but Oria enjoys his company, surprisingly. ]
no subject
[...what would that have looked like had Oria not been a frog, honestly? Sinclair has had a lifetime of shady people]
But you're really fast. It probably wouldn't be over that quickly.
no subject
[ He pokes at Sinclair's cheek with a finger. ]
You're supposedly the slowest class in the game and you dodged how many of my shots? I thought you would have just tanked through them, so my plan of attrition definitely didn't work.
