[ Oria knows he won't be able to dodge a Thorn Dance at such point blank distance (16), so he quickly draws out his gun to quickly shoot a Thorn Shot where he fails the crit (2) and will most likely fail the hit as well (5).

But at least he tried.

Oriade's HP falls from 70% to 40%. It probably would have been more impactful against a higher defense class. He'll try to gain some distance after that. Whew. ]

[It doesn't actually hurt, but Sinclair feels like saying that anyway as the shot hits (1). The curse of being slow after a major attack. Down goes his HP bar, but not by too much yet.

He doesn't let up though, going for another triple wield (13, 4, 4) which is probably ineffective but he'll keep going]

[ My bad luck continues, so when Sinclair unleashes his attack, Oria gets hit twice again (5, 2). He really needs to get a better read on the range. This puts Oria at 10% because his defense is still terrible against direct attacks like this, but he barely manages to dodge the last strike (12).

The battle should have been over when either of them had their HP dipped below 15%. But there's also a certain look in Oria's blue eyes that the virtual reality had managed to capture. Despite his usual easygoing mannerisms and the fall from earlier, he zeroes into Sinclair's range after dodging the last strike and just as Oria likes it: a set of Triple Doom shots to the face (15, 14, 9).

Will he stop after that? He doesn't know, but I rolled a d20 instead of heads or tails and 8 tells me no. ]

[insinning]

[Oh, nice, under 15% now, that's a wrap. Except, not]

Oria, that's--hey--

[That breaks Sinclair out of the zone a little, as he tanks the three shots to the face. Ow. He's also below 15% now, but he's getting a little stubborn. Swinging in for a regular attack (10), out of sheer annoyance. But there's something about the look in Oria's blue eyes that pushes Sinclair a little further, and if that doesn't work, he's going to keep going]

[ Oria snaps out of it because Sinclair is also below 15%, but he doesn't dodge in time (4), so he just takes the normal attack hit. He's at around 5% now. ]

Ah, wow... phew.

[ He seems to notice Sinclair's condition first and then his own. ]

Ahhh! I'm at 5%?!

[ A bit late, but he eventually sees it. The battle is done. ]

[Panting a little. He's a little tired? Definitely beaten up. That was fun, but. Marching over to just give Oria a little shove]

I can't believe you shot me in the face after I won.

[Translation: You deserve to be at 5% you jerk]

[dissimulative]

[ Oria lets out a tired laugh and lets himself get shoved. He wasn't feeling pain, but whew. He's tired. ]

Sorry, sorry. I got really into it and forgot about the threshold!

[insinning]

That can get dangerous.

[Sinclair can be perfectly hypocritical here because he also got carried away. But will Oria call him out on it?]

Should we go get something to eat to recover our HP?

[And energy]

[ Absolutely. ]

Yeah!

[ He's always up for eating something, but let him wrap an arm around Sinclair's shoulders first. Here he is, being buddy buddy. ]

But I could say the same to you too! You looked like you were gonna skewer me with that lance for good.

Was I?

[He's trying to recall, even as he leans into Oria. He's feeling the change in their height difference. He rubs the back of his head sheepishly]

...I guess I did get carried away. It seemed natural to keep going after awhile.

[Especially with that faceplant]

Yup! I thought it looked cool though.

[ He will not talk about that faceplant. ]

How often did you PvP? This was actually my first one in Fragment.

[insinning]

[Sinclair is a good friend and pretend that did not happen. You're safe, Oria]

Hmm? Really? I thought you had done it before. I haven't done any PVP...unless you count what I did to the admin.

[Mild guilt now, since Pete has forgiven him]

That wasn't even a proper fight! Definitely wouldn't count. Well, I asked Koto [ 0koto/Matoba ] before, but he looked like he'd rather do something else. Maybe it's a good thing, since I feel like he'd just roast me in two seconds.

[ Matoba is shady, but Oria enjoys his company, surprisingly. ]

I don't think Macabre Dancers are meant to fight---Koto? You mean the person who had you equipped?

[...what would that have looked like had Oria not been a frog, honestly? Sinclair has had a lifetime of shady people]

But you're really fast. It probably wouldn't be over that quickly.

Yeah! He's a shadow warlock though, so he's definitely a strong magical dps. All those AoE spells would probably trip me up.

[ He pokes at Sinclair's cheek with a finger. ]

You're supposedly the slowest class in the game and you dodged how many of my shots? I thought you would have just tanked through them, so my plan of attrition definitely didn't work.

[insinning]

[Rude, Oria. But he will allow the poking]

...yeah, I was a little surprised too. It just felt more natural to try to get out of the way than sit there and wait for you to get tired.

[Rip Oria and the dice rolls.] I did think about tanking more, but then that other attack you did ripped through my HP...it definitely felt urgent to keep dodging. Maybe you'll get an AOE attack once we're allowed to go above level 25.

The triple shots?

[ Since that's really all he used aside from Thorn Shot. ]

They ignore defense, so I really should have just used them from the start. But that's not really fun if I wipe the floor with you a minute into pvp, you know? But an AoE attack would be really nice to have for later.

[insinning]

So you dragged it out on purpose?

[Sinclair laughs a little and jostles Oria in turn. That probably would have taken out Sinclair since he would have tanked most of it before he got wiser but.

Well, a win is a win. He'll take it]

You're right though. PVP is fun.

[ Not the jostling!! Oria laughs in return.

He will not say how he forgot all about Triple Doom's ignore defense capabilities until in the middle of their fight. ]

I'd definitely wanna do it again with you. Maybe in the next level cap?

[Sinclair will never know the difference]

Yeah. As long as we remember the rules we set.

I dunno, Vogel~ seeing your fighting has lit a raging storm in my heart--

[ Pfft. Okay, Oria can't keep that up. He almost snorts. ]

That's to say, I'll probably have to get more experienced first. I doubt most of us are used to fighting in real life, so this is a really new experience.

...that was even more terrible than usual.

[Shoving. Gently. But Oria really had gotten into it...]

Mm. I had to take some fencing lessons when I was younger [the life of a rich kid] but that had been for fun, and didn't stick. And it's not like this at all.

Fencing... the closest would be like blade brandier, right? The sword class. But fencing is a completely different style. Might as well use a rapier instead. Nothing else though?

[ He wonders what Sinclair's life would have been like... ]

Probably. I don't think I was very good at it though. [He was always hesitating to start first, and his instructor used to get so mad. It was a relief when he was allowed to quit]

Mm...I did whatever they asked me to do at school [Like dance classes, maraca class] but not really. What about you?
