MAC ANU ~ GANYMEDE'S MCMANSION

The everpresent afternoon sunset hangs, echoing picturesque across the glass windows apparent at each spot within the large building. In a large room full of tables and what not are heaps of various cuisine settled here or there. Seafood, pastas, drinks, the like; Mediterranean style so if nobody likes that...gomen.
Ganymede has made it clear that he prefers people to be here in order to get themselves together. Sorted, somehow. They're all acting with a sort of independence he seems disinterested in disturbing, but he wants the prospect of potential solutions to be floated along.
If someone has new information they can share, well, it is encouraged. If not, he hopes that they will at least participate in some way.
It now begins.

(( OOC Note: People will not be attacked by monsters once within the McMansion, including pool area. ))

There are. I've been thinking a lot about them since the news was released, and, honestly, a little bit before then.

[ Uta is really the only one who's had that experience and now that she's made herself known to everyone in this building that she's still here in some way, Hien is sure that people would want some answers regarding her situation. ]
no subject
[ so whether that is a good thing or a bad thing you can take that as you wish? like clearly they have been losing being in touch with their real selves but being burned alive??? or. ""alive"". looks into the camera. ]
Nothing has felt different from before and now. I still get hungry. I still can feel pain. [ ... ] It's just as though I am alive even though I'm not.
no subject
... ]
Thank you for sharing the information, Uta.
[ Look, he's thanking someone! But he seems to mean it, since even he could tell that it was hard to say out loud. ]
no subject
You're welcome, Hien.
I hope this will help people understand what is going on more. [ and because she must— ] Even though I'm not sure what this means about your boss. Such as if it was his intention of letting go of his physical self to only exist within the Fragment or if it was something else.
no subject
[ Seeing as he is Hien's boss. ]
It doesn't seem to be for testing, if he has already achieved it.
no subject
[ very much ghost in the machine vibes here if not in the most literal sense. ]

gestures to everything going wrong ]

Well... I, if this was supposed to succeed then maybe there's something else that is preventing him from doing the job that he wanted to continue to do.

[ ... ]
My connection with CC Corp has been cut for a while, so I don't have any more communications with them, let alone my boss.
[ There. Finally a confirmation of what everyone was trying to get out of him two weeks ago. ]
no subject
???? ]
How long has it been cut off? Since before we've gotten trapped here?
no subject
[ a plea to let me be vague about this ]
That's why I told Memoir to make that post about me. It worked... mostly.

Do... [His mouth is dry. Uta's "death" has plagued him for a while now, but he's been too afraid to address it until now.] Do you really believe the article?
no subject
I think the better question is if the article gives me any reason to doubt it. ...and unfortunately it doesn't.
"Dalgaard" is not a name that I've had associated with me for years. I've made sure of that.
no subject
[He immediately stops himself before he can go any further, trembling. He can't raise his voice at Uta. He can't.
After taking a deep breath, he tries again.]
But... CC Corp funds the news. W-Who's to say they didn't fabricate it? I don't know how they'd get a hold of that name, but...they've done a lot of shady and invasive things...
no subject
So has my family.
[ there's no real reason to hide it anymore. ]
It's why I have more reasons to believe the news than I do to doubt it. If the CC Corps were involved with it then it was to let someone know where to find me.

Uta...
[It's obvious in his shaky voice that he wants all of this to be wrong so badly. Uta of all people doesn't deserve this. She doesn't deserve to have had a bad family. To have this happen...]
I'm sorry. [He sniffles and shakes his head.] I'm sorry...
no subject
What are you apologizing for? [ her voice will be as calming and gentle as she can make it. and she'll get on her tip-toes, as needed, to bring his head closer to her so she can stroke his head. ] There's nothing that you've done that needs to be apologized for.
[ and if/when he looks at her, she'll be smiling warmly for him. ]
If anything—thank you for caring about me so much. It means so much to me to know that I'm this important to you.

[Don't mind this creature slinking in from somewhere, looking as smugly content as ever.]
Putting aside the current threat of the monsters, of course. But if such threats did not exist, would any of us age or change at all from this point forward? I should think not, hm? Whether we "exist" here just as digital snapshots of our minds, or as the fully captured human "soul".
...Is that the reward given to us intrepid beta testers for making it this far?
[The way he smiles at Uta suggests he knows a little more than he's letting on as he sips his drink. But then again, he always looks like that.]

I don't think I've ever asked for immortality or wanted it. [ in a way, she already lives forever in her songs and music. ] I've only ever wanted for people to feel safe being themselves and not have to worry about anything.
[ take that as you will??? ]
If I can make people happy by easing their pain in some way, then of course I'll want to do that.
no subject
[Wow, this guy isn't one for sentimentality, huh? Even if he's unmoved by the good vibes Uta's trying to spread around here, that's okay; he latches onto something in what she said, instead.]
But that brings us to a different matter. Easing others' pain, huh.... Then, would you say a world in which you feel no pain is superior to the "real" one?
no subject
I don't believe in a "superior" world, but more of an ideal situation or place. There isn't anything inherently wrong with people wrong with feeling pain; it prevents us from repeating the same mistakes. I just don't have to like it.
I don't enjoy seeing people suffer knowing that there is a way for them to not.
no subject
[A direct attack. Rather than to keep pitter-pattering around the ideas of immortality and this world as an escape, he goes right to what he wants to ask.]
Are you glad to be trapped here, now that you supposedly have no body to go back to? Even though this world is no longer one in which we can escape from the pain of the real world. Now that pain and death are permanent here, too.
no subject
[ as if uta needed to think more about how fragmented her life and "kind of life" was. but, suppose, it was something she just brought upon herself. ]
I couldn't say that anything about a situation where people are not safe would make me feel "glad".
