[ on friday, when scitalis passes by the gate, a strange avatar called tabibito waves at her. they don't know her, and she doesn't know them, but they seem eager to get her attention anyway. ]

Hello! Your name is so interesting! [ they flutter to her, not quite too close, but not far enough. ] Would you like to join me for a dungeon run?

[For quite a long moment, Miharu's avatar sits there in silence as if she happened to think Hani was speaking to someone else or had simply tuned them out.

"Sorry, I'm very busy." "I'm afraid I'm not interested in that right now." On the rare occasions people approached her with propositions of friendly activities in real life, she often deflected when she responded at all. The instinct to stay silent or turn away luckily doesn't register on her in-game character, but when she finally does respond, it's tight and guarded.]

...Sorry? My name makes you want to run a dungeon with me?

[ wait, they’re going out of order. ]

Actually it makes me want to have a conversation with you, but I figured since we’re so close to the gate, we might as well make it interesting.

How would Scitalis-kun approach a dungeon, I thought!

[That much, at least, makes sense to her. Standing around talking, especially under the slightly alarming presence of someone finding her "interesting" from sight alone, is not the most appealing of ideas.

Their line of questioning, however, just makes her look a little more caught off guard.]

How many ways are there to approach a dungeon?

[ they give it some serious thought, going through their own experiences. ]

I’ve tried a handful of different ways, so there must be more. Going in with no gear, turning it into a picnic, making small talk about food… I think there’s at least as many ways as there are people.

[She's willing to hear them out, at least, given equally serious consideration to what they have to say. She doesn't know what to make of someone who can so easily throw fun activities into a task like that.]

I suppose I've always entered them with the intention of completing them efficiently. [Therefore, she hasn't considered more than doing the task well or even satisfactorially.] But even how to do that. that changes based on the others in the party, really.

Do you mean if you had to pick between a lower leveled player and a higher leveled one, you would go with the higher one for efficiency? Or do you mean that depending on who is in your party, you adjust for the smoothest run possible while keeping in mind your party’s handicaps?

The latter, mostly. I don't play that often, [she hasn't hit the new level cap herself, even,] but I do try to be prepared.

We aren't exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to classes that can heal or those that wear heavier armor. And... I usually run with just one or two other people.

That’s considerate of you to choose the option that’s fair to both you and your party. Strategic, but fair. How interesting!

[ she didn’t make it sound all that complicated, but thinking about it now, hani knows there’s a delicate balance that needs to be maintained for something like this. ]

[Is she being scrutinized? It's hard not to feel as if Tabibito is trying to look right through the digital screen to see her at her desk. Miharu holds one of her elbows, rubbing at it.]

Is it? [Even if she's been taking it at a logical approach, it's the level of interest that chafes up against her uncertainty.] I think it would be more strategic if I bothered to fill up the party.

I suppose so. But would that be something Scitalis-kun would prefer to do? Isn’t it best to just be who you are, and change when you want to change, for yourself.
