open | party like you're 35;
Who ☀ Hector & "everyone"
What ☀ It's Hector's birthday!
When ☀ August 5
Where ☀ Lumina Cloth. Surprise!
Content Warnings ☀ drunk people, will add as needed
[ Arrive at Mac Anu, where the welcome party was held, to find it...empty? A quick look on the forums shows a little edit to Hector's post:
So that's where he is.
In the center of the brightly illuminated nighttime city, Hector's set himself up for his little get together. But since he doesn't have any tables or plates or anything fancy like that, all the alcohol and food he bought from various vendors are just...strewn around the floor. The food is probably still good to eat, though. It's fine. Take what strikes your fancy!
Hector's wearing his outfit again. He lounges on the steps of that funky spinny thing in the center of town, and anyone who gets close enough to hear him will hear music coming from his mic. Give him a break. He's doing his best.
When enough people have gathered, he might actually get up and drag everyone into a drinking game.
So enjoy—eat, drink, mingle, and smack your friends! PvP is enabled here, after all :) ]

We're popping Lumina Cloth's cherry! See you there :-)

[ someone free him ]
Where are you stuck at anyway, ribbit?
no subject
[Even after their... fiasco... He can't help being charmed by the squeak!]
I wouldn't call it stuck, but I'm from Japan. And happy to remain here.
no subject
You're happy to be there, ribbit?
[ Imagine being happy.
Anyway. ]
What's it like, ribbit?
no subject
What... Japan, you mean?
[Matoba blinks, and ponders how to answer that. What it's like when he doesn't really have anywhere else to compare it to by experience... Besides, he lives in a smaller city, and doesn't feel like giving too many details, so...]
The mountains are peaceful and lush, the city is buzzing with all sorts of colorful characters, and the internet speeds are good. [He grins, settling on that.] And, most importantly, the cats are cute.
no subject
Oriade thinks about that for a moment. His little frog head is full of thoughts until he opens his mouth-- ]
Do you live on, uh...
[ Give him a moment. ]
... Tashirojima, ribbit?
[ Cat island. But he also heard a bunch of old people live there. ]
no subject
[Matoba blinks, and then laughs- for once, he actually looks a little fond.]
Wouldn't that be nice?
There aren't really many people on that island; no, I live on the mainland, in a city.
no subject
Like Kyoto, ribbit?
[ His pronunciation is pretty good when he says Japanese words, at least. ]
It's nice that Japan has nature that you can actually appreciate in most of the areas, ribbit.
no subject
[Matoba, carefully, has avoided giving an exact location. Stranger danger!]
It's true... Once you go outside of the large cities, large amounts of the countryside remain untouched. There are great forests and streams, caves and waterfalls...
Really, I prefer the nature, myself. But most of my work requires me to stay in the city. Ah, and there are more kitty-cats about in the city, so that's also a perk.
no subject
... ]
Hey, Koto... how much do you like cats, ribbit?
no subject
[He will answer this.]
no subject
[ He wants to know so bad. ]
no subject
[Unfortunately for him, no matter how much he loves them, cats are usually put off by his rancid vibes :(]
no subject
So, your love for them must be very big, ribbit.
[ Even if it's just one... Hm. Oria will think about this. ]
no subject
Haha, sure, I would agree with that.
no subject
But with that, he remembers something-- ]
Oh, and let's try PvP over in the arena when I'm not a frog, ribbit! We're both capped, aren't we, ribbit?
no subject
[Matoba looks... reluctant, somehow. Even at their current levels, unless he can out-DPS Oria with casting, there's not really much point to it.... His gunner skills will tear through his Phys.Defense like tissue paper.]
Here's an idea. Someone among us might as well gather data in order to figure out the damage forumla, right? So that eventually we'll have the ability to calculate DPS for certain dungeons given a party.......
no subject
But man, damage calculations? Well, it's worth a shot, even if it's really not his thing. The area explorations were just dumping information, while this feels like precise recording. Hm. ]
That sounds like so much math... Does any class have a scanning ability, ribbit?
no subject
It does! I'm not exactly a math wizard myself- or perhaps a math warlock might be the better way to put it? [Ha ha.] But at least we can generate data for those who are better equipped to do so.
Of course, we are in an active beta. I have no doubts the devs will be changing things as we go along, so who knows how long such data will be useful for.
no subject
Also that joke... Matoba, please. ]
For some reason I don't think they'll change damage numbers unless the difficulty is too hard or if they get an outrage from the general public, ribbit. That's assuming someone is a leaker among us, ribbit.
no subject
Then again, I wonder if there are enough of us participating to gather enough data for that... When I received the invitation, I figured there would be more participants, but seeing now what this game is... It probably wouldn't be feasible.
no subject
Why not, ribbit? Too many casuals, ribbit?
no subject
Math isn't my forté, but logically, I can see that it's simply a matter of statistics, There aren't enough players, playing enough of the classes with different builds, armor, and the like, playing enough variations of dungeons to accurately model a wide enough variety of scenarios to balance the game to fully.
Once the game releases and the general public floods in, then they will be able to accumulate the amount of data required to make fine-tuning more possible.
no subject
[ Though he thinks of something. ]
Koto, are you leaving this place any time soon, ribbit?
no subject
...By this place, do you mean the party or the beta?
