[ Any time between August 5 to 11, you may see a figure clad in a long black cloak with the hood up to obscure his face, either standing at random spots of the city with his 5' 10" height or sitting on a bench, being slightly less menacing. He stands out in a certain way, because his presence alone might be a little unnerving. He resembles what you would expect out of a grim reaper sort of existence.

Yet, if you check his character information, you'll see his level, class, equipment, and a very "friendly" blurb. A level 100... Harvest Cleric? Surely, that shouldn't be too scary to deal with, right?

Anyway, here are your options:

I ► You're here to talk about that weird quest. He will reject any attempts at being given the quest item. May straight up PK you without hesitation either way.

II ► You want to fight him. Maybe you want to launch a surprise attack on him or just straight up ask for a PvP round for whatever reason. Lumina Cloth is pvp-enabled for the entire root town, after all.

III ► You're not sure how to approach him, but you can hear him mumbling about a potato...

IV ► You want to talk to him about something else.

Wildcard ► Hit him up in-person or his inbox with whatever you'd like! I do want to note that every single in-person interaction has the possibility of him trying to PK you because he's a cranky and violent guy--yes, even prompt 4. If you would prefer not to get PK'd, please let me know in the comment header in advance, so that I can avoid that while threading with you! You can put anything you want under wildcard, including dragging him to the amusement park, but will he agree? Fuck around to find out.

He's just here to vibe. There will be no plot-relevant things here. ]

( It takes some time to find Mr. Hien, since it's not like there's a marker on the map for him, but the grim reaper at his full height is being approached by a guy a whole 9 inches shorter than him, unperturbed by his whole, like, vibe. )

( His profile literally says Hien right there, but he isn't confirming his name. No. He's confirming if this is who he needs to be giving a certain item to. )

[ It's easier to deal with people who don't care about his vibe, so when Mithrun comes up, Hien just slightly tilts his head to look over at him. Tiny man. ]

What do you want?

( A moment as he fishes into his inventory and produces the Legend of Yaoi book. He holds it out for Hien. )

Your book. ( A beat. ) The contents don't really involve weaponry.

( It's about the gay kind of yaoi, rather than the weaponization of wooden paddles kind of yaoi. He would have expected the opposite for a request from Hien; he still recalls their last conversation on the forums. )

[ He glances at the book, and yeah, he's peeved.

Mithrun immediately gets a level 2 single target wood spell, a leaf tornado, targeted at him with level 100 stats and best weapons. Needless to say, Mithrun will be PK'd. Hien won't let him wait the 20 minute duration and send him back to Mac Anu immediately to where the "Hien" NPC is too. He's being generous. ]

Well, that death was quicker than expected, looking at a clock. Mithrun will inadvertently trigger the NPC dialogue and successfully get the skin he's owed, apparently. Unclear if this is a glitch or not, or there's a secret third thing going on.

Not long after, though, there's a Mithrun returning to Lumina Cloth, and seeking out a Hien again.

When he finds him again: )

Is part of the quest the book delivery?

[ This guy is back... why though... Hien sighs and looks at him again with a more annoyed tone settling into his voice. ]

I don't want it.

... Are the developers teasing you because they know you don't like talking to people?

Hien gets up from the bench with his staff and attempts to smack Mithrun's head with it. A hit would instantly kill him despite the class differences.

If he gets PK'd his avatar will disappear immediately and respawn in Mac Anu. ]

( Mithrun respawns.

Some time passes; enough to gather his bearings and return to Lumina Cloth.

He finds Hien again.

He stands there, within eyeshot. )

[ Maybe if Hien pretends that he doesn't know Mithrun is there, he'll leave.

Yeah, that'll do it??

Probably not, but he's going to try. ]

( How long can Hien ignore him because Mithrun can genuinely stand here and stare at Hien an unhealthy amount of time, )

[ Hien is a pro at ignoring things when he wants to, so Mithrun will stay there for a long, long time... ]

( Mithrun doesn't eat or sleep generally and his carer might just not be in today to make sure he does, so he can keep this up for a godforsaken amount of time. )

Hien was about to log out to eat a meal, but then sighs. He's sure been sighing a lot today. He goes up to Mithrun without his staff equipped to show that he won't PK him... for now. ]

What do you want?

( Does take note of the staff, though. He doesn't presume to be safe, though. )

You don't have to make yourself visible to players, do you? Why put yourself at risk of interaction?

But he raises an eyebrow at the question. ]

You're not indifferent. There are things you seem to dislike about this role. But, you're still here.

I don't think players need to have an antagonistic relationship with the administrators.

( Even if there is, Mithrun suspects, things both parties don't understand about this game, and things the administrators don't want to tell them. )

[ Hien has a lot of things he wants to say, but he's juggling them around in his head. The end decision is greatly unhelpful as he bites back an annoyed sigh. ]

Some don't understand that this is a beta test.

[ That's all he says about it. What is he--a god? lmao ]

But I also have a nasty personality and I don't care what they think of me.

( But Mithrun figures they're probably providing an authentic player experience anyway so it's probably fine. (He isn't a gamer so he doesn't know if this is true or not.) He'll be over here running Area keywords dozens of times over to verify what they generate and trying to test every invisible wall. )

( This may sound like he's sucking up to Hien, but he would, unfortunately, say this about most people. Hien powertrips a lot and killed him but it's kind of whatever. )

You also answer my questions even when you seem like you'd rather not.

I don't know if I'm having fun in Fragment, ( What Zelkova asked him before, ) but I think I don't think I dislike the time I'm spending here, either.

[ Regardless of Mithrun's intentions of saying that he's fine, Hien doesn't allow himself to believe it--not one bit. However, he can at least tell that it isn't mockery, so he's fine with leaving it at that. ]

Because you have a lot of time to kill and this is an entirely new field to learn about?

[ He's seen you explore all those areas, Mithrun... ]

... I don't know. At the end of the day, this world isn't real; but it is more fantastic. Do you think it's more worth spending time in than reality?

( Especially considering the significant uptick in VR addiction lately; a game like this, when it hits the shelves, most certainly won't help those numbers. )

But I'm not like everyone else. They're not me, so I expect a different answer from the others. What they find to be of worth is different from mine.

... Fragment is probably more appealing than reality. But there's something I can only do in the real world.

( He doesn't know if that makes reality better than Fragment; just more suited to his one very specific desire. It is, likewise, subjective to his own experience. )
