[ Despite the ominous aura, the haunted tower has seen no shortage of visitors recently. But for those who gate in today the air itself is different. The skies are black, and the mist that had blanketed only the top of the tower now pours out across the plains, shrouding the ruined city from sight.

Anyone who goes looking for the master of the tower will find that the room he occupied before now holds only a single door, standing unsupported in the middle of the room. It beckons, tugging with a terrible compulsion — you know whatever sight awaits you is one you'll later wish you could forget, and yet... you look. But the door opens only onto the bridge leading to Hulle Granz Cathedral, where the first quiet strains of choral music through the open doors guides you on. ]

The coming of the latest combatant is preceded by the faint sound of a distant but familiar siren's song that drifts like the mists through the cool air of the cathedral, pervasive, but diluted and soft; this Area is Gorre's, not his, and so his song is softer here, than it would be in that false home in the ocean Lily had once granted him. Still, he presses forward on unsteady legs, though walking on land still feels like glass.

The song winds its way around Gorre, and suddenly he is overtaken with the crushing fear of loss; the cold-sweat, stomach-churning sensation of unrequited love. His thoughts may or may not drawn to Ganymede in this moment is possible... that isn't Mithrun's call; not anymore. In concert, the Despair hooks into his body with its teeth and its claws, halving his movement speed and Blinding him (7). )

Does this whet your appetite, Gorre?

( In the dim-lit dark, a small figure joins the fray, his eyes covered by a wedding veil, and his garb a high-low wedding gown. The song comes to a soft close around him, seeming to have originated from him in a vague and general sense, and in his wake there is a faintly sweet scent. He draws his massive greatsword, a grand thing near all made out of a blue-rose bouquet, vine-like blade serrated with thorns.

A quick inspection tells you this is Mithrun1, but, more curiously, he appears to have a Magical DEF Down debuff on him with no listed end duration. Don't worry about it. Thankfully, he also has a huge buff to his HP. )

[The sound of that melody is enough to make Leviathan freeze up in terror out of instinct. Fortunately, it doesn't appear to be a second coming of Macha.]

[He thought Mithrun would still be resting along with Barrett, but...the more he thinks about it, the more unsurprised he is that Mithrun wouldn't just sit around.

[He's not sure why—because he doesn't even remember why he wrote "Leviathan" that way in the first place—but he feels a surge of pride when he hears Mithrun say his name with that particular inflection...]

I think we're making some progress, but his HP bar is weird. It was under 90%, but it jumped back up.

[He seems to have recovered from the initial shock of Macha's siren song to talk strats, at least.]

I noticed he doesn't take damage from some elements like wood and thunder, and I think when he has colored flames out they correspond to matching elements. He tethered Vogel and Owen to doors with red and purple flames, and the red flames got brighter when I used a fire attack on the doors.

[ Oh god, it's the sound of her nightmares. The sweet song does not ensnare this time, the Mithrun who emerges looks recovered and is fighting on their side, and oh does she pity Gorre right now. Haru will catch his eye and smile. ]

( Mithrun has not felt less than positive regard for her, in part influenced by Macha's own, and Mithrun does not particularly separate himself from Macha, even if his behavior as Macha was deeply influenced. )

[ That he is well again and standing with them is more than enough. Besides, she's grateful that he's shown her how it feels to be in love. This only solidifies her resolve not to marry someone she doesn't love, though she can't quite remember where the pressure came from anymore. ]

Gorre is being terribly stubborn though. I'd like to see you hit him with everything you hit us with.

[ He feels these things only to process them. Terror, to be balanced on the precipice above a loss... It would be a cruel thing to inflict on a human. The code basis of his first data set responds, although Gorre does not; his head swivels towards Ganymede as if turned by an external force. ]

( He says this with a sharpness, in reference to their prior conversation. He doesn't like that Gorre seems to approve of his presence, but he also knows that there's no stopping a Phase from wrenching data from every cranny that they can, like a starving beggar.

He sees how Gorre's head turns. Maybe there is some of him that might be yet saved in there; but that is not Mithrun's duty. Mithrun is only here to slay, if the rest cannot yield Michel from Gorre's husk. )

But I don't see why I have to resign to it.
