11/05 — ΣHeartless Snaring Cathedral...?

Who: █████ & visitors
What: scheming
Where: Δ Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground (Hulle Granz Cathedral)
When: Sunday, 11/05
Warnings: to be added

[ Despite the ominous aura, the haunted tower has seen no shortage of visitors recently. But for those who gate in today the air itself is different. The skies are black, and the mist that had blanketed only the top of the tower now pours out across the plains, shrouding the ruined city from sight.

Anyone who goes looking for the master of the tower will find that the room he occupied before now holds only a single door, standing unsupported in the middle of the room. It beckons, tugging with a terrible compulsion — you know whatever sight awaits you is one you'll later wish you could forget, and yet... you look. But the door opens only onto the bridge leading to Hulle Granz Cathedral, where the first quiet strains of choral music through the open doors guides you on. ]

((Note: Characters are welcome to receive the location from any other player and gate directly to Δ Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground. Allowing those who found his tower inaccessible to come join, too, is cruelty.))

More or less. We... They would look for scraps of the data they want, even where it makes no sense to see it.

( Like any proper misanthrope, who sees evil in all parts of the world. )

... But the programming is imperfect, because the base is human. Some of what was said to me resonated in a way I didn't understand. He might say he only see cruelty in it, and that may be true on some conscious level, but... I think it's still worthwhile, trying to talk to him, and trying to deny him cruelty. If you want to save him, that is.

( If not, well. Murder is fine too. )

...we'll save him. [But Sinclair thinks about the letter, Michel's words still echoing in his heart]

...but how would someone see that action, if they don't want to be saved to begin with?

Gorre doesn't want to be saved. Michel might.

( Sinclair would know better than Mithrun. )

Speak past Gorre to whatever little remains of the base. If Michel doesn't want to be saved, then there's nothing for it. But...

( You can't ask Michel under the influence, Gorre, to answer for the Michel they knew before.

... )

... At the heart of Tarvos's anger was Barrett's guilt. At the core of Macha's broken heart was... my loneliness, I guess. Those cores were us, and not Lily's programming.

... Maybe Michel has something like that, too, that acts as the heart of Gorre's conviction in cruelty. If you can speak to that, maybe... you can hear from his raw self, whether or not he wants to be saved.

...I wont say.

[Not 'can't.' Wont.

Because if he said those words aloud, certain people might falter entirely. He doesn't want that.

Sinclair looks down, touching his pocket. He had known from the moment Michel gave him those letters, what the core of Michel's heart was.

He did not have hope or desperation in his heart.

Michel had been calm. Accepting.

Walking to his end with his head held high, content in knowing he could leave his loved ones behind with a clear conscience.

What an awful older brother.]

Before that happens...we need to weaken Gorre's hold first, don't we? Us using aggression constantly hasn't been working.

( "Wont," huh. )

Mm. Most likely.

( Easier said than done, surely; by virtue of Gorre trying to kill them, they do have to defend, and that, in itself, is data, just as it was for Tarvos and Macha. )

Gorre wants to see how humans harm others. We might not be able to refrain from attacking him entirely, but...

He seems pleased with the doors. Maybe finding a kinder ( ??? ) way to approach that mechanic will be more effective than any verbal refutation.

...if Owen can open his own door, maybe he can close it? But if that feeds health straight to Gorre, we'll be right back at the beginning.

[Just waiting with baited breath]

His health did go down significantly more when we hit him with the elements in synergy, I think.

[Oria's bullets passed through but something else happened? His eyes were closed for most of that round fml]
