[ Kara had knocked out immediately after washing up and getting her injuries checked by Levi. She doesn't leave her shared room with him until much later on 10/30, when she goes out into the lobby to get some snacks. It's then when she sees Barrett for the first time as himself, sitting on one of the couches.

And, given that she's made eye contact with him, she can't exactly avoid him, either. ]

... Hey. Welcome back.

[gluttoning]

[He's stuck in his one of his more pensive moments when she's down in the lobby, looking a little restless and gloomy. But he catches her movement, and though he's content with just lifting a hand in hello, he looks surprised when she actually says something.]

Hey.

How are you feeling? You've been upstairs for a while.

[curvaceous]

[ Ah...she shrugs very lightly at that, puts a smile on her face. Tarvos and Macha did a number on her, but even she knows that bringing that up might only make Barrett feel worse. ]

I'm fine, just exhausted.

[ She pauses for a moment. ]

Mind if I join for a bit?

[gluttoning]

He sees that smile, and his eyes turn away, just for a moment.]

Sure. But...

If I promise to be honest with you, will you be honest with me?

I remember the fight, Kara. You don't have to pretend to be okay around me.

[curvaceous]

[ Honesty...

Honesty is good.

Honesty is also hard.

She'll try, though. She's over feeling lonely. She's done with shutting people out. So she nods, and takes a seat near him. ]

If you want honesty, then...everything hurts. Physically. I'm tired, but I'm sure we both are.

[gluttoning]

[There's a little visible relief in his demeanor at her frankness, leaning his head back against the back of the couch so he can stare at the ceiling.]

Mn.

But it doesn't mean your hurt doesn't have it's own worth to take care of. Same with mine for me. It's not a contest.

So... I'm glad you're getting rest.

[curvaceous]

I guess.

[ A big shrug, then: ]

I don't know how much I can afford to rest, though. There're more Waves coming. You, on the other hand, should take it easy.

[gluttoning]

At least a little. I mean... none of us will be any good if we're completely worn out before this is all over. We need to work as a team with it.

[Well, he says "we", but his eyes drift to his cast with a sigh.]

I can't really go anywhere. That's not my choice anymore, and that's going to have to be fine. I just don't want to see anyone join me because they're wearing themselves out.

[curvaceous]

Yeah... I guess you're right. It doesn't mean that you have to like it, though.

[ It sucks that Barrett can't even help right now, given everything he's been through. Lily used him, and while Kara does hold him accountable for some of that, there is absolutely no excusing anything Lily's done here. Down with our flower overlord. ]

I'll try to take it easy, but I get it. It's easy to feel antsy with everyone else on their feet, fighting.

[gluttoning]

Yeah. I don't think anyone really likes feeling powerless. But so long as you're satisfied about what you decide to do to recover and help out, I guess that's what matters most.

[So long as it doesn't get her killed or something, anyway, but what's the chance of that happening?]

It means we have to put a lot of trust in the others, too. Even if we're scared to see what they might be going up against, they're going to fight just as hard.
