[ However did this group get together?

It's hard to say. But at least two of them consisted of a pair of newbs who needed to get used to the game's usual happenings.

Their location granted via randomizer? An intriguing area consisting of a spacious, grassy meadow that makes up most of the immediate and surrounding area, but smack dab in the middle of it all is a stone wall, of which there is an entry point into the start of the dungeon...where there are monsters and treasure to be found! ]

Dungeon Run: Wandering Destiny's Phantom

[ It's that time again.

Albedo finds himself on another dungeon run.

He isn't exactly a busy body, nor is he a fan of large crowds, so somehow...he manages to get accosted by a stranger for some adventuring, or something like that?? It's all good here.

Nothing hideous temperature-wise. In fact, the whole strange murky forest environment feels welcoming in the creepy horror movie sense. But maybe most people won't think that, even when it is evident the entrance to true dungeon lies in the heart of the forest. ]

Quite an intriguing-looking dungeon we've stumbled upon, haven't we?

[ hani vaguely remembers having run a couple of murky forest dungeons before, so this is nothing new, probably. but they do love the atmosphere of it, as mysterious as a walk through a cemetery, the souls of the past keeping them company. ]

It's beautiful, don't you think? Does this type of dungeon suit your taste?

[ The best kind of atmosphere for them both, huh? ]

The aesthetic does suit my preferences well.

In addition, it also just so happens that there aren't any drawbacks to the aspects of the current environment.

[ Or perhaps that's just a matter of opinion. But, no overabundance of heat, or cold, right? Not that he seems to have encountered either. ]

Drawbacks? Mm, like... if it were to rain?

[ but the rain is nice, too! hani starts casually walking forward, with patient expectation that calx will fall into step with them. ]

[ He falls into step just fine. ]

It'd depend on the circumstances behind the precipitation. If it's just light rainfall, I imagine it wouldn't be much of a drawback to contend with.

[ Time to start walking then...up ahead waiting for them, shrouded in the forest are two Phantom Wings. Using the fog as cover, they try to ambush the two right away. Albedo's caught off guard, bringing up his sword to slice at one after being hit with at least windy smack. ]

[ what does 'circumstances behind the precipitation' mean, they wonder? if the sky is sad?

but, well, they should help calx right now, so here's a merue rom to drench the phantom wings, followed by a girai don of frenetic lightning, bouncing between both targets. yay for science applied in-game. ]

[ Nice usage of applied science to further stunlock and fuck up the enemies. Albedo approves of the selection, naturally, as it helps even out the odds.

There's definitely some crits landed there. The two targets probably don't last long either, because damn. It doesn't take much to subsequently down them as a result, but he turns a grateful glance at his current dungeon buddy. ]

Yes, fortunately.

I'm afraid my adjustment phase hasn't quite come to an end. But, experience is also the greatest teacher, isn't it?

[ He touches his own arm, remembering the hit. He has gone through dungeon runs before, but he hasn't been surprised like that before. ]

[ they’ll take care of that, lightly touching his wound to apply the healing magic. a quick thing and then their fingers trail away, down his skin and off. ]

But you caught on so fast, I’ve no doubt you’ll master this game before long.

[ a most random compliment as they continue walking on. ]

I can believe that I will.

[ The healing dulls the pain. An expected result, but another tidbit of realism that dulls the line between reality and a virtual world.

He turns his head slightly at the compliment. ]

...Thank you?

[ That's the appropriate response to such a comment, though he really does feel like it comes out of nowhere. It doesn't stop him from keeping pace, however. ]

[ casual as anything, asking vaguely invasive questions. ]

Are they like your real eyes?

[ from what they can see, they still have a ways to go before reaching the dungeon at the art of this forest. so might as well chat for a bit. ]

[ Albedo supposes he never saw much point in making his avatar different from his own, including his eyes.

Only the fashion remained different. ]

Does your avatar mirror your real life appearance?

[ Asking Hani right as he spots three enemies up ahead. Three Shield Men.

He begins to rush forward, attacking at least one, and hoping to get the best of it. ]

Not the horns or the length of my hair, but everything else is right. Though! I guess my hair used to be this long as a child.

[ a lot of things have changed since. ]

In the real world, I keep it a lot shorter. Androgynous and a touch boyish I would say.

[ one of their level 50 attack spells will distract and maybe kill two out of the three, leaving only one so albedo can gain some combat experience. ]

[ Albedo seems to have a distinct lack of impulse control when playing video games. ]

For your convenience, I might imagine. Keeping your hair shorter would allow for easier maintenance. Though, would you prefer to have it longer than you have it now?

[ The blond then stabs some more of the remaining enemy, actually hopping back to evade a blow, and then following up with a special move or two.

This will allow it to be decimated soon enough. After a lot of hacking and slashing...bye bye last Shield Man. ]

[ hani watches over calx as he fights, just in case they need to step in. ]

I… don’t know! I don’t think I mind either style.

[ is that true? a flicker of a memory, white kimono and a blue sky. … yes… that’s still true. ]

What do you think about having long hair?

[ when the last enemy falls, hani waits for him to fall into step before starting off again. the dungeon is close now. ]

You don't? Hm, well I hardly find that much surprising at all either.

[ From Albedo's small observations of Hani thus far, they don't seem to be the type of person to necessarily take preference over such small things. It is entirely possible they are comfortable in their appearance however they look.

Though such notes are not conclusive for Hani's ultimate thoughts on the matter and are in a sense quite premature. ]

We are the same when it comes to this subject. There's hardly much of a preference on my end when it comes to the matter. Perhaps we should consider polling the other players for collecting data on something that can be subjective?

[ They're almost there. Just one last wave...Two Dark Horses. Albedo looks at Hani, trusting them to take the one, and charges again at the other. Let's gooo! ]

[ one, two, three! they chain three different elemental skills back to back. it’s probably overkill for one enemy as the dark horse just gives up and sinks to the floor. ]

I think you would be very beautiful with long hair. I’d like to braid it. Would you let me?

[ just casually continuing the convo as the enemy disintegrates. ]

When it comes to subjective feelings on long hair versus short hair, maintenance would be too big of a factor I believe. It would skew the results in favor of short hair. A balance of objective and subjective feelings would give us a more interesting result.

[ It's fine, sometimes it just be like that. ]

If you would like to braid it. I don't mind the style much.

[ He has like two braids already in his hair but has been curious to see what it'd look like with more. ]

It certainly could. The fact that those interests factor into how we present ourselves in a virtual place will also introduce another intriguing layer into the inquiry, and the subsequent results.

[ And just like that, let's say he fells down the other Dark Horse after more stabbing, leaping back, and an elementary-level skill. This leaves them to go ahead and claim the treasure, doesn't it? ]

the treasure chest is there before the entrance, and it sure is shiny and nice! don't mind if hani just goes up and - boo! the disembodied face of [ganymede] pops out of the empty treasure chest and screams! ]

[ ...As for Albedo, his own ghostly apparition is staring at him.

He doesn't quite know much about anyone else at this point, and honestly this is funnier. But after the initial surprise, he will turn towards Hani and nod. ]
