[ Following some enlightening discussions that have more or less blossomed into actual plans, an unlikely band of four adventurers assemble!

Names added to friends' lists, details hashed out, which means one thing and one thing only, that the next point some adventuring is happening. Though, given that it is everyone's (probable?) first time, it seems that there is no way for anybody to choose specific places or areas they might like!

Thankfully, that's what the random Area Exploration mechanic is for.

Ganymede steps forward, and just decides to select a perfect set of coordinates for everyone...



...Not! As if even he can be decisive at this point. He lets everyone know that these are the keywords they'll be working with. "Coiling Friend's Tiny Beast", that is.

So once the Chaos Gate is utilized for them to all cross over...

Welcome to the wonderful location of Coiling Friend's Tiny Beast! Apparently it's an area that has a rocky desert-like appearance that stretches out for miles on end. Not to mention, there is a wonderful-looking flesh wall that is the proper beginning of the dungeon crawling, and entry point into the actual dungeon that is bound to be teeming with treasure and creatures.

But, they're not inside that wall as of yet. ]

[ Winter doesn't actually stop Hani from taking his hands. But he might be looking at them like they've plunged his hands into an entire bucket of mud rather than just giving him a friendly little squeeze.

He gives his hands a surreptitious little shake afterwards. Maybe the ice king over here was slightly melted by that and has to shake off the residue. Definitely too distracting to check anyone's gear again. ]

... ... ...Tank in front. You both stay in the back.

[ And he's going to try to get through the rest of this without talking, until avocado deception is discovered. ]

[ It is a good thing something gets said before Tylor makes it too far ahead of them. He swivels back toward them only for his hands to be taken up. But there is no thought of resistance. He just smiles and squeezes back just as warmly. ]

Ready!

[ His new and trusty stop sign gets planted when he remembers to change weapons. His armor is still all mismatched across classes, but hidden beneath his pirate skin.

But that order of Winter's pulls his attention. A glance to his stop sign, then to everyone else and their gear before-- ]

So, am I the tank?

[ Is Ganymede going to end this party (raid) with a large headache?

Stay tuned, maybe. He does also squeeze the fingers back thoughtlessly, before gently letting go. ]

I think so...what's a tank again?

[ He murmurs turning his attention over to the other three one by one. Like, he is not very used to these terms. ]

And as long as everyone has what they need, we might be ready to go?

[ well, winter did say it was the person in the front, so... ]

Our trusty leader? Our hearts' guide. Our hero!!

[ they'll obediently stay at the back as instructed.]

[ Is it too late to go back to the party and put so much wine and cognac in his inventory? Winter closes his eyes and thinks meditative thoughts. ]

...Good enough. Yes, you with the stop sign. Make the enemies hit you.

[ Now everyone has absolutely all the dungeon basics they need. In, in, before Winter starts shepherding people.

So much for his hopes and dreams of getting through this without talking. ]

Tanks are... well, they're tanky! More defense, HP or whatever.

But it's a real shame I won't get see your lovely faces very well from up there.

Oh, and you're very smart too, Mr. Winter.

[ Somehow shameless yet sincere, this isn't the first time two of them might've heard some his flattery from the party before the party.

Time to lead ??? He gestures his stop sign out in front and sounds pretty sure of himself-- ]

Leave it to me! Let's go!

Uh huh, sure...I think you can see enough, thanks.

[ Which is good enough for Ganymede who will also apparently be lingering to the back. It's so weird not to take center stage as a performer.

When he starts shaking his lithe hips, he will not have many eyes on him for now. What a change!! ]

Well, alright. After you.

[ Ganymede will waltz after their two offensive people, sticking with Hani in the back.

Fortunately, as they step right in, there should be no immediate ambushing happening! After all, this is a dungeon crawling episode that goes...well (?) enough. Just give it a moment before proper monster encounters. But, the fleshy walls make Ganymede scrunch up his nose. ]

...This looks awfully gross. I'm submitting my complaints about how this appears right away.

[ Since clearly this is a bug. ]

[ the "we" definitely includes justy, whether or not the others agree.

and the flesh walls? neat! exciting! hani looks around with eager eyes. putting them in the back was probably a bad idea because they really wanna touch everything. but first - ]

Wait, everyone. If the walls are made of flesh, do you know what that means? [ obviously: ] We bring out the alcohol.

[ from hani's inventory, they withdraw four bottles of whiskey and start passing the alcohol to the other members. ]

I also have cocktails if we run out.

Fortunate that I'm smart enough to compensate for my face.

[ He's definitely interpreting Justy's buoyantly sincere compliments as singling him out there. Is he mad? No, but that won't stop him.

What will possibly stop him is being handed a bottle of emergency whiskey. ]

...Disregard that. I spoke too soon.

[ Absolutely not clever enough to follow this train of thought. But he will open the whiskey to take a drink, which mitigates the unpleasantness of the flesh walls slightly. He can't say it was a useless strategy. ]

Oh? What's wrong with your face?

[ Asked innocently as he turns to face the party while taking a few steps backwards. A very safe thing to do surrounded by flesh walls.

But soon enough this front liner joins the back line once alcohol is brought out. His job is forgotten in favor of happily meeting Hani part way for that whiskey. ]

[ After a swig, sounding unconcerned even when he moves to poke his stop sign against the nearest wall-- ]

Hey, do you think the walls know we're here?

[ganymed]

[ This is turning into a mini-disaster, between remarks about appearances getting potentially out of hand, and the sudden reveal of alcohol mid-run, even while knowing that the drinks and food can have the same affects as if real.

Ganymede sighs. ]

I'm not getting in between this little misunderstanding between you two, so clear it up right away.

[ But! Ganymede does take one bottle of whiskey. Maybe he'll actually need it for later. He will bear the appearance of the ugly flesh walls with a virtually sober mind, for now. ]

Now, why would you think the walls are sentient?

[ oh, hani was thinking they could splash the alcohol on the flesh walls and maybe it'd open secret passageways or y'know, just let them win at the game - but drinking works, too. plus, there's back up!

everything is fine ☆ ]

Is there a misunderstanding? Leader-kun thinks we're lovely - which is true, as all humans are. And Winter-kun is our strategist and shadow king. Gani-kun is the bond that holds our little party together. And I'm here dressed to party.

[ flashing a peace sign that probably no one sees 'cause everyone is ahead of them. ]

[ Whether Hani meant to or not, that little intervention spares Winter from painfully detangling the fact that he doesn't know how to joke. Hani gets a tiny grateful look that hopefully goes unnoticed. ]

If we all have our roles settled, let's get moving.

[ Wait... why is he in the lead now, with Leader-kun stopping to poke at disgusting flesh walls? Winter heaves a sigh and takes one more drink before vanishing the whiskey into his own inventory. They're all going to get jumped by monsters while they're being clowns, aren't they? ]

We'll find out if those walls are sentient quickly enough if we keep poking them. Or if they can vomit us right back up.

[ This place is already gross, he didn't make this gross. ]

Because flesh comes from living stuff.

[ Said without hesitation, as metal sign meets said flesh. Tylor cringes.

He blinks, and then stage whispers all the way to the back line. As if he might offend the wall-- ]

I think it might be dead... or thirsty.

[ There are no thoughts of gross walls once Hani starts talking again though. ]

Beautiful as always, from our lovely wavemaster.

[ He beams as he swings the stop sign around at hani and the words sing song right out of him. At least it gets him to step away from poking the fleshy structure. Another drink and he seems intent to carry it the old fashioned way for now.

But okay okay, he's moving again. Right beside Winter with his stop sign resting over one shoulder. Have a nice friendly smack aimed for a shoulder. It's a little too slow for a sober person. ]

You've got a great imagination too. [ A happy sigh. ] I'm real glad we have such a talented party.

[ Thank goodness for Hani right about now. Though he wonders if he's really the 'heart' of the group. He probably is, in retrospect.

Anyway, Ganymede isn't exactly anything other than the fun police right about now, but he is making a face at Michel's words regarding the wall and then Justy's matter-of-fact comment in regards to his question.

Thanks, he hates this. ]

I'm not going to disagree about that.

[ Ganymede says pointedly, and then, suddenly, it doesn't take very long for them to meet their first enemy! Or rather, enemies. That sure is a gathering of Bee Commandos they're going to need to bypass in order to proceed further. They seem to count as three mooks despite looking like a bunch of multiple bees for each separate swarm. What fun! ]

Great. Look alive everyone, or this might be a literal pain.

[ Right away he is already starting his spell-casting dancing! Tanks or whoever are in front are supposed to draw aggro, right? His first Ap Corv usage goes to Michel. Here's a temporary increase of your physical attack, Michel. ]

[ the party vibes here are getting a little strained, but that's ok because...! it's time!!

hani has thought a lot about this... what would they do if they ever encountered danger in this game, once surfing was out of the question. luckily, they have a plan.

3, 2, 1!

they do an avocado twirl, and then gleefully shout: ]

Gan Rom! Gan! Rom! Gan Rom! Gan Rom! Ka-boom!

[ regardless of how many times the spell actually goes off, hani keeps casting, firing spell after spell. mp is a problem for someone who knows how to play the game. they sweep their splintering rod here and there. kocchi! acchi!! socchi!!! just rocks everywhere. ]

And now for my ultimate attack! [ which may shock and confuse the people present because everyone is level 1 so how - ] Everyone, look! It's... Whiskey on the Rocks!

[ pchoo! goes their bottle, hitting a bee commando right in its face. ]

[ Should Winter have the reflexes to dodge that friendly clap to the shoulder? All logic says yes. But just like Hani's earlier handgrab, this sneak attack connects and he buckles a little. ]

Gh—?!

[ No, it wasn't that hard. He's just in shock. He'd be giving Justy a longer look of disbelief if it weren't for the timely and very welcome arrival of a swarm of angry bees (thoughts never experienced before or since in the duration of human history).

But, fine, he's buffed now. So he's dashing in to try a Cross Slash on these bees... before the arrival of rock swarms makes him flinch reflexively. This game wouldn't have friendly fire, right? ]

Wait. Do we know how SP regene—

[ Nevermind. Hani has clearly brilliantly seen around this limitation with that special move. Whiskey... on the rocks. Whiskey on the rocks.

Michel just watches in stunned disbelief, standing in silence for a few seconds after. Here's hoping their tank picked up aggro on that bee because Michel is a stone statue himself as he lets every facet of this sink in. ]

[ At first, Tylor stands there grinning at the joke while everyone else does cool things or freezes in place. It's less that he takes the game seriously when he needs to and more that he is having too much fun with everyone already. That is to say, he doesn't just stand there when some bees escape their whiskey fate. ]

Nope~

[ An answer to SP regeneration or a rebuttal to their enemies? Who knows. He says it cheerily as he uses brandish at the last second to redirect the enemy away from Winter. Whatever this ability should look like, who knows, the important thing is it involves a stop sign in front of Winter's face and Tylor stretched out as far as he can, mid stride, to make it in time.

Then he just lets the bees attack him, and he laughs as he swats at it without using an ability. The stop sign is not a fly swatter but he tries anyway. ]

Wow, I sure do have a lot of HP. [ Not really, he's level 1. He might have more defense and health than everyone here, but he's no full Lord Partizan. ] It doesn't even hurt that bad.

Hani...Winter, good job.

And—hey! Don't freeze in the middle of all this...!

[ Ganymede is wondering how this turned out as it did—not that he thinks he can expect the following to occur as it does, but all the same, it seems to do damage, and that's what is important, right?

Right.

Absolutely, totally. Fine. So there's Hani without SP now, Michel having frozen after attacking, and thank Justy for jumping right in to negate the freezing portion. As well as doing...Ganymede has no idea what he's doing, tbh.

So, Ganymede just decides to cast another Ap Corv on Justy to increase his physical strength temporarily. ]

Tylor, don't you have an ability you can use? Or something?!

[ Despite their disorganized way going about doing things, four characters intermittently attacking/buffing, and spam spelling does ensure one thing.

At least one swarm is defeated, leaving two more with some random amount of HP. Their team is making progress...?! Especially with the two swarms focusing on the two frontliners. Hope at least a certain Blade Brandier unfreezes soon. ]

[ hani's sp is fully depleted, and they are minus one bottle of whiskey. they've done all they can. (for now.)

so they put away their weapon and take out their mixed drink. siiip. their eyes flick between party members, watching everyone curiously with a little smile on their face. their tank seems fine, their cousin seems fine, but winter... winter seems to be the personification of the AOL dial-up tone at the moment.

hani moves in front of winter, just in case he needs more time to gather himself. or knock back a couple gulps of liquid courage. ]

You seem almost used to this, Leader-kun. But do take care of their stingers.

[ isn't there usually some sort of final sting attack? ]

[ Well, Winter is well and truly working on a stress headache now, between the three of them. But Hani moving in front of him seems to galvanize him again. He puts one hand on their (short?!) shoulder to nudge them back. Despite Winter's... well, everything, it's not rough. ]

I didn't freeze. [ He did! ] I simply couldn't believe my eyes. I thought it was a technical issue.

[ That's his story and he's sticking to it. Stabbing bees seems far from efficient to him, but this is still a game. He'll expect some level of abstraction as he jabs the rusty sword through swarms of bees. It would be annoying to waste the strength buff while it lasts. ]

You — Hani? — stop trying to tank. And you, tank! We don't have heals!

[ "It doesn't hurt that bad," nothing?! Michel's trying to save his own SP to set a good, responsible example for the chaos that's already unfolding around him. Hani has a point, and he's trying to take down the rest of the swarms before they pull out some annoying attack and KO hapless Leader-kun. But to the one member he can't (at this instant) summon any grumbles for: ]

...Thank you for the buff.

[ This snicker is certainly not meant for that cover story, but he gives Ganymede a thumbs up before picking one of his other skills randomly. Wicked Strike is a flick reaper move so poof goes his stop sign mid useless smack into a bee. In its place is a Farmer's Sickle, slicing through the closest swarm instead.

With that strength buff and the extra damage from his other two classes, it hits for more than you'd expect from a Lord Partizan. But that strike was probably dangerously close to Winter and Hani. I don't think there's friendly fire, but it's still a little rude!

Tylor's laugh is more airy this time. ]

Sorry! Pretty cool though, right?

[ Is now the time to ask? no. ]

[ Well, Ganymede is within full view of Hani extracting his mixed drink to have a sip mid-battle. No one can say that party runs aren't social events??

But while his cousin is being a free spirit, he focuses his attention back on the response he received for calling out Michel. A sound that may or may not resembled a disbelieving 'Mhm' tone to it might have resulted. Freezing is freezing, though mid-battle also isn't a place to debate it.

At least the expression of gratitude he receives from the both of the two in question mitigates the haphazard way they've been going about things...

Nonetheless, at least progress is happening. There's the slicing through happening on both ends. Michel and Justy make for good frontliners. Now might not be the time to ask, whether moves are 'cool' or not, so he just throws a 'look' at Justy, but all the same...

...it's perhaps unsurprising both swarms have been wiped out by the two, because honestly the enemies were still nursing injuries from earlier. Ganymede gives a sigh of relief. ]

Maybe cool that it helped defeat those swarms...

Either way, we definitely managed to clear our first battle.

[ He's proud no one died and that's what matters. ]

How is everyone's HP?

[ Besides his own because he is the only one who didn't move straight to the front at all. One battle down, two to go, though! ]

[ hani's eyes crinkle in amusement when wicked strike cuts through the air near them, their long hair rustling aesthetically. it's all very anime and they approve. ]

The coolest! [ they toast to the two damage dealers. then toast to the dead bees. a moment of silence and a sip of alcohol. may they enjoy the digital underworld or afterlife. ] Good job, everyone.

I am not sure which number is which, but I believe our Happiness Points are at max. That's more than enough to get us to the end. [ HP = HP ] It's fun so far, isn't it?

[ Look, Ganymede. If you don't want Winter to bluescreen during this run, keep your cousin in check. Otherwise: it's absolutely not his fault for this.

In any case, he doesn't look any more perturbed by the near miss than Hani does. More long hair sweeping everywhere, Winter as deadpan about it as Hani is amused. ]

Not bad. It switches more smoothly in combat than I expected...

[ Is he having mild second thoughts about his class? Tyler's getting a look of approval, anyway. And Hani is getting... well, a nod for the toast, at the very least. ]

I profoundly hope your SP is filling as rapidly as your "Happiness Points" [ yes, this is pronounced with audible air quotes ] appear to be.

[ Actually, can he check other people's? Time to start cycling through everyone's information pages while they're at a temporary pause. The countdown is on until he realizes what Hani has equipped. ]
