Who ⬤ Ganymede and Co.
What ⬤ Dungeon-crawlin', exploring, talking with people. What can go wrong?
Now featuring some potentially cw-worthy memshares, or content involving that.
When ⬤ Following first meetings, and anything related to the below subjects.
Where ⬤ Coiling Friend's Tiny Beast, ΔHidden Forbidden Holy Ground, Root Towns
Content Warnings ⬤ Mentions of drunken behavior.
Further mentions and displays of captivity, kidnapping, stalking, and subjects relating to suicide.
[ Following some enlightening discussions that have more or less blossomed into actual plans, an unlikely band of four adventurers assemble!
Names added to friends' lists, details hashed out, which means one thing and one thing only, that the next point some adventuring is happening. Though, given that it is everyone's (probable?) first time, it seems that there is no way for anybody to choose specific places or areas they might like!
Thankfully, that's what the random Area Exploration mechanic is for.
Ganymede steps forward, and just decides to select a perfect set of coordinates for everyone...

...Not! As if even he can be decisive at this point. He lets everyone know that these are the keywords they'll be working with. "Coiling Friend's Tiny Beast", that is.
So once the Chaos Gate is utilized for them to all cross over...
Welcome to the wonderful location of Coiling Friend's Tiny Beast! Apparently it's an area that has a rocky desert-like appearance that stretches out for miles on end. Not to mention, there is a wonderful-looking flesh wall that is the proper beginning of the dungeon crawling, and entry point into the actual dungeon that is bound to be teeming with treasure and creatures.
But, they're not inside that wall as of yet. ]

[ if the doors don't open on their own, hani will knock very politely with the knocker for effective sound coverage or their hand for tiny sound coverage. but since there's no BGM at the moment, that's probably fine. ]
Pardon us~

The doors ease open before them, groaning on their hinges and revealing the cathedral proper. The pews are immaculately kept, orderly and without a single fleck of digital dust. The marble floors immaculately reflect anyone who steps foot inside of the cathedral.
By all counts, it's a fairly normal space, if a bit haunting. Standing at the heart of the cathedral is a large pedestal with quite a bit of rubble scattered beneath it.]

[ As the nominally Catholic European in the group, this is certainly a quasi-familiar sight. Michel doesn't hesitate before he steps inside to look around, drifting off to the side to eye any windows
and leaving the center to others for now. He's listening to the song with an attentive ear.Given that he's conversationally familiar with modern German, can he pick up the gist or remember the lyrics for a later intensive German translation session? ]

Yewyou.The lyrics are as follows...
Der Mann mit Schattenauf der Such' nach dem Abenddrachen...
Der Mann mit Schattenkehrt nicht mehr hierher zurück.
Auf der Suche nach dem Abenddrachen.]

Let the record show that before that, Michel had his notes application up to jot down the lyrics as he listened, to augment that selective memory. He won't understand everything on the first pass but some common words are fine. ]
"The man with shadow"...?
[ Hopefully those three lines were all of it, before pedestal shenanigans happen. ]
1s before pedestal shenanigans.
Oh, can you understand it?

The gist, at least. I'm not fluent, but I hear German often—
[ And now he hears the clunking of some rubble shifting and glances over. Are they going to have monsters in this strange dungeon after all? ]
no subject
He halts once they are both gone, back to Winter. His confusion, mingling with surprise, reflects back up at him from the marble even as he walks up to the rubble like he intends to touch it too. ]
no subject
Hopefully fast enough to make a grab for his wrist in time. ]
Are you an idiot?!
no subject
He looks over the church instead of answering Winter's question, then to the statue head of the young girl. ]
Who do you think she is?
no subject
His brow furrows in uncertainty and he drops Tylor's arm again. Michel's always hated empty smiles. But seeing Tylor's expression without one is strangely discomfiting. ]
Is that... really what you think we should be worrying about right now?
[ But there's less bite in his tone than just a second ago; an uncustomary note of doubt creeps in in its place. ]
I don't know. An NPC. Part of the setting...
[ He trails off, staring at the statue head rather than at Tylor's unreadable expression. Focus on the facts, collecting information. He can do that. ]
no subject
[ Tylor lets his arm fall though, his posture back in his usual slouch without reaching for the rubble again. He kicks at it a little, a rebellious compromise. ]
I wondered if she sent them somewhere, but they're just offline. [ a pause. ] They haven't texted me back either, so maybe they're busy?
no subject
That doesn't change the fact that the white enamel of Winter's armor is slowly turning a dingier rust tint. And the glare he shoots Tylor is probably the most expression anyone in Fragment has ever seen on his face at once. ]
In the middle of a dungeon? Have you ever seen Hani act like that?
[ "Just" offline. He should have checked first — he should have thought to message them, instead of snapping at Tylor, which isn't accomplishing anything. It's not like him anymore to get this rattled. ]
no subject
[ No, he hasn't seen Hani act like that, but there isn't any worry in his voice either. Instead, he's casually walking around the rubble, seeking out the pieces of the statue to peer at while he goes on. ]
Think there's anything else we're supposed to do here?
no subject
[ Winter cuts himself off with a nearly audible grinding of his teeth. Is it more annoying because nothing he's saying is technically incorrect? He kicks at the rubble himself before turning on his heel.
There really is nothing else to see here. But rather than answering, or logging out to go stare at the unresponsive message windows, he bites his tongue and strides away. ]

they'll shimmy their way over to the pews, smiling at their reflection on the marble floors at one point. hopefully it's reflection hani smiling back and not like owen with smeared make-up and a clown nose. yikes!
anyway, anything left on these seats? ]
no subject
Maybe there would've been something waiting on the pews if Hani wasn't a rude motherfucker, but alas! There is nothing to be found on the seats, but if he looks down at the polished marble floors, maybe he can see what a loser looks like up close. Just remember, Hani: the floor never forgets.]
no subject
ok, well, hani will just vibe with their music until one of the others calls them over. ]

[ Ganymede looks at the other two who are...focusing on their respective subjects (maybe Justy is lingering with them or will follow after him? We're keeping it vague for now, fam.) That said, the feeling of being in a cathedral is something familiar to him, actually, but he definitely hasn't been in here before.
He heads straight towards the pedestal. Is there anything notable around it? If he has to clear the rubble, the blond will get right to it...! ]
no subject
By the way, Ganymede... would you happen to be touching those pieces of rubble with your bare hands?]
no subject
...Did some kind of event happen here?
[ A battle? Or unfinished creator's license? Anyway...
...Yes, he would be in fact, touching the rubble with his bare hands. Why? :> ]
1/2
Upon touching the statue, Ganymede will feel his fingertips go numb, the sensation coursing through his body until there isn't an inch of him that isn't pricking with that terrible pins and needles sensation. His vision is the next to go, fuzzy and grey, before his hearing leaves him as well.]
2/2
For once, his own cautiousness had been thrown to the wind. Because what's the harm? A little bit of realism in a video game never killed anyone, right? But, perhaps that wasn't a good idea at all.
The strange sight is curious enough rather than shocking or creepy. But what follows next, well...
Without a single sound and no preamble whatsoever, everyone can see Ganymede collapse. No matter how many times anyone calls out to him, he won't respond. Even worse still is how immediately after he seems to disappear right in front of everyone's eyes, apparently logging straight on out.
USER GANYMEDE IS OFFLINE.
Also, as a bonus, should Hani decide to try to call him, Ganymede will not pick up his phone. Why? They will find out he's in the ER.
That's probably fine. ]
HELLO?????????????????????????????????
... Gani-kun?
[ the first hit is of confusion, breath caught in their throat. and when hani remembers to breathe, it's just to gasp out ganymede's name again. ]
Gani-kun!
[ ganymede's body blinks out of sight too fast for hani to reach in time. once they rush to the pedestal, there's just... nothing. and hani - hani has no words for what just happened. their heart beats more rapidly than they ever remember it doing, something indescribable crawling up their throating, robbing them of words.
gone again? ganymede? no. no - were they supposed to feel this way last time, too? was their heart always capable of - of panicking like this? something happened to ganymede, not hani but hani feels -
they cast a frantic, helpless glance at the other two in the room, shake their head, and then - connection terminated as they rip off their headset and reach for the phone.
