You check the quest board one day to find something curious— Limited Quest: The Mysterious Sky Islands.
Limited quests like these are hard to come by and even harder to accept before other eagle-eyed explorers swoop in to claim one of the few slots available. Luckily for you, you can count yourself among that fortunate group today.
After accepting the quest, an NPC totters over to your side: a wisp of an old man who might very well topple under the pressures of a modest breeze. You hunch down to listen to his tale of misspent youth, dreams of taking flight long passed.
His days were spent perfecting the ultimate flying machine, a veritable tin can held together by scraps of metal and rusting bolts. His invention is finally complete, but at his advanced age, braving the skies is no easy task. That's why he's selected a small handful of intrepid adventurers to take to the skies in his stead and fly to an island that's always hung just out of his reach.
After listening to the old man's tale, you agree to board his rickety flying contraption and set sail to islands unknown... and if you're lucky, you'll manage to get there in one piece.
You're flying to the mysterious island with four others and each of you have been tasked with exploring a different part of the island. Unfortunately, your flying machine... explodes just above the island proper. The five of you are flung to different sections of the island and marooned there, but as it happens, what you find on your stretch of island correlates with the tasks handed to you by the npc. How very auspicious.
Take care as you go about your individual tasks: this island is incredibly windy. One misstep and you'll end up hurtling to the ground with your task incomplete and the old man relying on you sorely disappointed. Good luck, adventurers!
The mysterious oinking creature begins to wobble and shake, a crank on top of its head loudly turning. Before long, it propels them both into the air, sweeping away the clouds to reveal its true form.
"Thanks for saving me, oink! You're a real pal! I came up here to blow all these heavy clouds away, but some mean kid knocked me out of the air mid-flight!"]
[The mechanical grunty instructs Sinclair on how to guide him through the islands (it's much like handling a remote control toy) to clear the clouds... until he's met with that question. It starts flying about erratically, shouting and pumping its fists.
"Yeah, oink! Some bratty little twin blade! He didn't even say sorry after, oink!"]
[The clouds have thinned out nicely, giving them a clear view of the island from above. As for that twin blade, well...
"No idea, oink! It was too cloudy to tell! That's why I needed your help to blow all these clouds away, oink. I'll be prepared the next time that bastard comes here, oink!"]
[Robo Grunty starts to shake and wobble again. He's calm, quite clearly, so it's not his short temper making flight difficult for him. He'll give Sinclair the answers he seeks, but if he insists on asking more, they might come at a cost.
"He wielded a low level Twin Blade weapon, oink! That's all I know! But how can a Flick Reaper wield Twin Blades, oink?! It makes no sense!"]
[Sinclair jumps, and with his weight suddenly removed, Mecha Grunty goes spiraling into the atmosphere and disappears. Goodbye, Mecha Grunty...
As for Sinclair, he manages to land on solid ground, so good for him! Hope you don't develop a fear of heights, Sinclair. With that, his work is done and he's free to return to his regularly scheduled Sinclairing.]

"Good work, kid! Now pull on my tail! We've got some clouds to clear. But, uh, I hope you're prepared to take some leaps of faith."]
no subject
Good thing is, right now Sinclair is all about leaps of faith]
Um. Just like this?
[Pulling the tail because why not. He's holding on pretty tightly]

But then]
A mean kid?

no subject
[He's going to get airsick?? This is not how flying should feel--!
But. A twin blade, huh?]
no subject
But the mecha grunty is a civilized sort, very much a gentleman, so he calms down and resumes flying about at a more relaxed pace.
"Sorry, oink... I just get so angry about that damn twin blade. If you ever see him, kick is ass for me, oink! Give him a piece of my mind!"]

[He can't think of any players who were twin blades off the top of his head]
Is there anything else about him you might have noticed? Like the type of blade he was using? Or why he wanted to stop you from doing your work?
[Just pressing for a little more info--ah, they'll be able to walk along the island without any problems now]
no subject

[And the shaking and wobbling worries Sinclair more, so he redirects his line of questioning to]
Are you okay? Do you need to rest?
no subject
But with all the clouds cleared, it's probably about time to land and let Sinclair go, right?
...Right?
"It seems I can't stop my motor, oink! I'm malfunctioning big time! Save yourself and let go of me, oink oink!"]
no subject
[He doesn't have wings? He'll let go once he has the opportunity but]
no subject
They're hovering near the central island, but there's a chance Sinclair won't make it if he jumps. What will he do?]
no subject
[JUMPING AWAY. Hopefully he doesn't take fall damage.
Of all times not to have a wing blessing]
