So that's where he is.

In the center of the brightly illuminated nighttime city, Hector's set himself up for his little get together. But since he doesn't have any tables or plates or anything fancy like that, all the alcohol and food he bought from various vendors are just...strewn around the floor. The food is probably still good to eat, though. It's fine. Take what strikes your fancy!

Hector's wearing his outfit again. He lounges on the steps of that funky spinny thing in the center of town, and anyone who gets close enough to hear him will hear music coming from his mic. Give him a break. He's doing his best.

When enough people have gathered, he might actually get up and drag everyone into a drinking game.

I was born in Norway and moved to the US when I was around eight or so. I did quite a bit of traveling around Europe itself before then, too. Since then, I haven't done much outside of conferences.

Norway? Ah, interesting.... [He's never met someone from there, he thinks.] This beta has its share of nationalities. I'm impressed the connection has been stable.

The medical side is very pretty PR, but I wonder which applications we don't know about.

All sorts of applications that take our data, I'm sure. It's impossible to know what they're even getting out of our beta test here.

I'm surprised that they're not giving us anything in exchange for this test. Not even a free membership after the game launches.

[ But maybe they don't need to. They're all here anyway. ]

Yes, yes, exactly! [This isn't a 401k but look... Where's their slice of the pie.] You're absolutely right, you know. We ought to get at least one year's subscription free after this.

But, they know if it takes off that people will renew anyway... I suppose from a business perspective, they don't see a need.

Nope. It's a shame too. I'd even take a special item that regular players won't have access to once the beta is over.

That seems like a pretty standard thing to receive, don't you think? And it wouldn't cost them anything. That seems more likely than any other option, especially since it seems as though we may be receiving test equipment during this beta.

I'm surprised by some of the things we've gotten. Like a travel pamphlet... the yaoi oar... the maid dresses.

I guess it tracks for otaku like the sorts that would be working on a game like this. Perhaps we will see some references to previous games, as things go on.

Haha, I could take it or leave it. I have played some of their previous games, but I always got bored eventually. [AKA, went on to complain on the forums and then stopped playing,]

I don't really read a lot of manga or anything, so I can't say I'd catch any but the most obvious references, if they threw in a few homages.

Ah... I wouldn't catch any of that either. I'm not well-versed on that kind of thing. Just music.

I see... You're a musician? That's a subject that I've never delved into too deeply.

I'm not, I just follow along with pop trends.
