Who ↺ Akatsuki and Vogel (+ Winter!)
What ↺ sometimes you ride a grunty through a fiery volcanic hellscape?
When ↺ After the party
Where ↺ Hidden Advice's Night Moon
Content Warnings ↺ will be added if they come up! surely the horrific chicken hat doesn't need warning for right
[ for funzies, tunes: 🎶 ... unless we need something more fiery, in which case, throws dart: 🎶 ]
[ anyway, following some coordination on the forums, vogel, akatsuki, and their trusty steed (?) meet up! and despite any plans of 'hopefully not somewhere they'll melt,' end up dumped in ... well, exactly that once they put in the exploration code and use the Chaos Gate to warp.
seriously, what about these keywords sounded fiery...?
oh well, nothing for it. it's volcanic wasteland as far as the eye can see, which means the single towering spire rising out of the ground out in the distance seems to pretty clearly be their intended destination. surely, there's treasure and loot to be found in there.
tally-ho, then. maybe that water gun really will come in handy after all. ]

... yeah akatsuki is going to test our her water gun, honestly. both of them, the actual equippable weapon and the party favor one. don't want to accidentally player kill her tank or anything.
can she use them to spritz some mist or do they only come in one setting, let's find out. ]

And here we'd been discussing the matter of avoiding an area like this ...
[ small sigh. the best laid schemes of mice and men, etc etc. ]

At least he has dodgy armor that won't cook him alive. At this point, he's managed to make his headchicken removable (thanks Zelkova, Oria) so now it's just a matter of making sure he has a different helmet so that doesn't happen again]
I really didn't think those key words would bring us here...
[Patting his grunty on the head ]
no subject
The downsides... are too many. He bobs his grunty head a little morosely for the patting. ]
Do the words seriously have no connection to the dungeon? [ Nothing about the ones his group used was giving him "flesh walls," and yet. ] ...Well, this is one way to discover if they've implemented environmental damage.
no subject
she's not staring, you're staring. ]
... If nothing else, fall damage is common enough in most games.
[ let's just continue the conversation. so, you know, don't jump off any cliffs now. convection schmonvection. ]
... If we want to employ the water gun idea at some point, though, it may be best to check whether it counts as friendly fire or not before actually getting into a fight.
[ holds up water guns. are we keeping this in the realm of joking or actually trying it out.
because imagine accidentally finishing off the last bits of vogel's hp and getting her first taste of pker blood, starting her descent into fandaniel-tier villainy— no just kidding, but still. ]

[A person. Sinclair is going to do Michel a favour and pretend he doesn't know]
...I mean...we could always test it out now, so we can work out how far away to keep from each other when we engage any enemies. I'd hate to hurt anyone I didn't mean to hurt.
[And who knows, maybe being a fire type grants him immunity from heat. But extra damage from water?
Ha...ha...ha.
And this is how Sinclair finds himself a consistent victim of PKing. Something about his nature...]
no subject
No? They're just going to talk games? This is fine and good. ]
If there were friendly fire, it would be miraculous my last party survived the dungeon.
[ He's not saying there's not, but. (In fact: it was just miraculous, probably courtesy of Justy's unreal luck.) ]
no subject
[ anyway. she's going to fiddle with the nozzle on one of the guns, pause.
preemptively hand Vogel one of her potions, just in case.
before aiming at him and pulling the trigger to spritz him with a spray of water. per word of mod this does do damage, help. ]
no subject
[ Just. Startling when his health bar goes down a little and his vr headset buzzes to let him know he's taken damage.
Thank you for the potion Akatsuki. He'll decide if he should save it for later or not]
...at least now we know your water gun does actually do damage. [But no, it is not cooling him down one bit]
no subject
[ Yeah. Michel is watching the results with some interest — does he have a health bar, as a grunty? probably not — and just filing that information away. So... that run really had been a miracle, considering the amount of alcohol involved.
Good to know. ]
Heartening. I hope your aim is generally good.
[ How fast can a grunty's little legs escape if this begins Akatsuki's PK arc: thrilling chase scenes ahead. ]
no subject
[ maybe the other games' vr wasn't as sophisticated as this, but look, the game can't be that sophisticated if room temperature water both a: doesn't help in this situation and b: still hurts. ]
... But I will take care to avoid hitting either of you, considering the ... equipment I'm working with.
[ it's a water gun. they are not exactly known for pinpoint accuracy. here's hoping the game isn't too realistic on that front, huh? ]
no subject
I'll try too. The stop sign's reach is actually pretty long. So if you can stay behind me...
[He can be a good human shield. Anyway forwards etc etc]
no subject
[ Has he transcended death? Would it release him from the grunty curse? Deep considerations. Time and grunties march ever onwards.
...This is such a peaceable party compared to his previous one. Well-behaved. Strategizing. Familiar with games. Topical and to-the-point. Winter lets out the longest sigh ever sighed by a grunty. ]
no subject
Which I am not suggesting, but.
[ what would happen if he ended up taking hits? would he just hit 1 hp and stay there, unable to die as a grunty?
poor sighing grunty. clearly, winter needs to find the teenagers and barely post-teenagers to group up with instead of the adults who didn't build their entire personalities off of Game.
anyway, onwards! she will, as directed, stay safely behind their fearless (???) leader, water gun at the ready for any approaching monsters. and what do you know, here come a couple of... hopping present boxes? ]
no subject
[No, not the grunty!!! Michel, clearly the teenagers are the sensible choice here moving forward. The actual adults seem hideous. He really should be following after Akatsuki, a leader he'd follow into the mouth of a volcano, but right. Fearless leader it is!!
He's not expecting the present boxes. He adjusts his stop sign and instinctively swings at a present hard when it approaches. Nervous wreck he might be, there's a bit of fighting spirit there too]
Watch out..!
no subject
[ Michel's tone is deadpan with accusation. Will today be the day he learns that jokes only become perceptible with some kind of cue? Probably not. Blame the limited grunty expressiveness.
The possibility has been duly filed away, however.
For the moment, the only contribution he can really make to this effort is carrying Vogel forward in this heroic(?) charge, trying to bring him to easy range of the present. Let's go, kiddos. ]
no subject
[ well, as Vogel's trusty steed brings him well into stop sign jousting range, Akatsuki is going to do her job and. keep some of the extra presents from trying to sideswipe him during his charge? it's kind of funny watching them open their maws to ready an attack, because they just look like a present unwrapping itself, but...
in any case, silly looking or not, the water gun works just as well against the deadly presents trying to flank their makeshift cavalry as it did against Vogel! yay, teamwork? ]
no subject
Wi---you do have a HP bar. I think you should be careful too.
[He almost feels like a real knight, his trusty grunty making him a little bit faster than he should be. The first swipe of his stop sign explodes a present into confetti and so does the little squirts from Akatsuki's little water gun. There's a lot of confetti everywhere]
Do you see any drops we should be collecting?
no subject
If the enemy tries to target me, I'll step on them.
[ Why couldn't he at least have fangs. But whatever, angry grunty feet should be menacing enough for some presents, should they happen to get close. He's enjoying the range of the cover from both kids. ]
Most of our drops were further in. ...Keep an eye out for strange voices offering blessings.
