Sitting back in his chair, he smiles a little. ]
It must be, if Michel said so. Honestly, this letter was news to me. The things he wrote of... I don't remember much of it, and it terrified me to realize that such big pieces of myself have been locked away.
cw: kidnapping mention
Ganymede tips back his drink regardless, taking multiple sips at it. ]
I remember...talking about what was in my letter before with Michel, a little bit before he left, because he remembered about my kidnapping, and I didn't. Though, it isn't like I hadn't been keeping track of things, in an attempt to keep some information from slipping away. But, it's hard for any one of us, I think, to have saved all those pieces.
But in the house of mirrors, we saw so many things, so maybe, that's why...they weren't completely lost.
It's strange, isn't it—even if they are bad memories, it isn't like it's good those were taken away too, right?
[ Robbery, family death, kidnapping, senseless death. Ganymede would hope they could all keep the good ones too, but losing any big memories, even terrible, seems scary too. ]

[ And that hurts in and of itself. Searching and searching for something and only scratching the surface enough to know that it's missing and nothing more is a terrible feeling.
But he shakes his head. ]
You're right about it not being a good thing, though. It's part of what makes us ourselves. Michel seemed to be convinced of that, at the very least.

...I suppose if a certain someone wants us to forget about these things, it's a job somewhat done okayish. There's no way in hell I'd say 'a job well done', though.
[ Ganymede is not pretty happy. Due to the lacking of certain information, he has perhaps been more hopeful than he normally would be, and it is not going to serve him well.
It's fine. So he nods at the words, 'It's part of what makes us ourselves.'
They must not lose their core selves, no matter what. ]
We have a lot to thank him for, then. At this point, because he's documented this for us, even if we had a more recent conversation, and that memory gets wiped away too...we have a more permanent record of something important to us. A key part.
We'll have to make extra sure he's back with us so we can express our appreciation properly.

[ It's something Fai has looked at again and again, and while he did so out of pain and confusion at first, now he reads it over for reassurance. His memories and sense of self are now something that he knows that he needs to reach out for.
And when Ganymede mentions that they need to bring him back, all he can do is smile. ]
I think between the two of us and his other friends... we're all bullheaded enough to get him back.
no subject
[ Because Ganymede won't accept any other result. Whether or not it's too hopeful, he doesn't see anything other as a good end.
Michel will come back to them. He will drag him back kicking and screaming. ]
We are. We're more stubborn than anything.
There's nothing else we'll tolerate other than him being right back with us. He'll re-learn that the hard way. Though...
[ It's at this time that Ganymede kicks back his drink, downing the rest of it in one go. It makes the headache seem further away now. ]
...In his letter, I remember him talking in past tense, as if he has already lost hope. But, I could tell, feel his will to live. There was one line in particular...
'Let me see you at the apex of your dreams.'
That's why, I know, he too wants more than anything to live, that these letters are a reminder for us as much as a hint that he wishes for help. To be brought back to us. In his heart, he wants to be there to the end. Let's make sure to remind him of that too.

I'll have to agree with your assessment. Why would he care so much about whether or not I remain my own person if he wasn't afraid he would see me turn into someone else in front of him?
[ He smiles. ]
These letters are how he'll hold himself accountable. They're a way for us to bring him back. A key, perhaps, to let us know that we need to keep pushing.
no subject
Exactly. I knew we'd agree on the subject.
[ As if there could be any other answer Ganymede would accept. But, it doesn't mean he's unhappy to hear it from Fai. No, far from it, even if he means what he says.
It's going to be a group effort, he knows it. The more staunchly they feel about this, the better. ]
...He's probably written more to some others too. Michel's bighearted like that. So, at least we'll have a bunch of keys and ammunition.
[ What does he know if there are more letters? He's assuming but whatever if he is wrong people can prove him wrong. Which won't be because he thinks he's gonna be right!! ]

Either way, it makes his smile soften. ]
I bet he has. I'll even bring mine so I have a reminder of who he really is.
no subject
When he sees Fai's smile soften, he knows his words are good ones too. ]
...Me too. I've memorized mine by now, though just in case I need to wave it in the face, I'll have it with me.
[ In the battle he'll just throw some of the lines he memorized at the other instead of whipping it out but it's fine. ]
Also, I know it'll be tough, but I kind of imagined him returning to normal as soon as we bring it out. He would say... [ Best impression of Michel's voice: ] ... 'Hasn't this been enough?! ...Fine. I can't do anything but return back to the guilds, eat my missed dinners, and make my apologies. You all win.'

What a great impression~
[ Maybe Fai should take a crack at impersonating Michel sometime too. Though Ganymede's words... he stifles another laugh. ]
He's going to get the scolding of a lifetime, isn't he?
no subject
I try my best.
[ He has, as a consequence, also not gone for another drink so soon. At the moment, anyway. ]
...Yes, I'm going to scold him until he wishes that he won't do anything that won't make me scold him ever again.
no subject
[ He laughs softly. ]
I look forward to seeing it. Pull on his ear and everything too, just so he gets the full point.

[ Ganymede's anger is one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse (no) ]
...By the way, do you want me to still call you Fai, or do you like Yuui better?
no subject
What would he prefer? What feels most right? It takes Fai a moment or two to really think this over. ]
Yuui. May as well, since Michel was so adamant about my staying Yuui.
no subject
[ It isn't the first time he has changed calling what he does the names of other people.
So now, just like this, the blond in front of him is Yuui. Or rather, always has been. ]
...Oh, wait. One more thing. Cheers for this and our victory ahead!
[ Ganymede pours a drink and holds it to Yuui's. Like a toast for their pre-victory, and Yuui taking on his original (still non-remembered) name. ]
no subject
Cheers! We'll win... or else!
[ Winning, after all, is the only option here.
(we can wrap right here, if you like!!) ]
