He heard Memoir calling Uta by her real name which inspires Punisher to push himself up and sit. If this isn't going to work, he'll have to get up anyway to attack.
But it does something. As a result, Punisher gets back up as fast as he only can and replenishes his SP with some teas, just enough to get a little more than 1/3 SP back. That allows him to buff himself with Supreme King and thanks to the party wide heal, he sacrifices 10% HP to swing his Claymore and use Breaking The Sky (4, 1) (welp) directed at Corbenik. Maybe at least his words won't miss: ]
Remember what I told you once? [ Punisher asks when he gets close enough. ] Your songs give people strength, Unna.
[ Speaking of strength... listing his current buffs for ease.
> 50% buff to P. Attack, P. Defense, Speed, Accuracy from Supreme King
> 25% Ganymede's P. Attack buff
> 100% P. Attack from Breaking the Sky
I hate yjh (puts his picture on a wall that's already full of his pictures like that one meme) ]

haki voice: you figure it out.
naru voice: no.
needless to say, it's more than enough to drop her health to critically low levels. all of the health that she had stolen from the others and had slowly been restored by tot musica obliterated alongside of any buffered health that she accumulated. yet, the "petals" around her do not wilt as the ones before, nor do they close their eyes; the only thing that wilts here is corbenik as she slumps against tot musica. unconcerned and unresponsive to her injuries but still thinking of the words they had just told her—had been telling her.
as corbenik was not singing, tot musica did not recognize her; and as her voice is currently unable to carry a note to order her companion to do anything, this is how things remain. given the nature of hostage, would tot musica even be able to act in the first place? it's not something corbenik thinks about as she comes to terms with the damage that she has sustained and slowly tries to regain her bearings.
given how infrequently they have traded actual blows, it's easy to miss just how vulnerable corbenik is to actual attacks. though, maybe punisher could have noticed, this time, how easy it would have been to cut her. how, this time, his claymore tears through the vines, threads, and piano wires to expose what lay deeper inside of her. while there is no blood there is a glimpse of the color yellow. some straw.
but it doesn't matter much now, does it? they have successfully nuked corbenik and have officially rendered her incapable of countering any of them. is this the victory that they want? if they came to destroy her, then they are so close to achieving that. punisher is in the prime position to do so. yet, even while faced with this, corbenik doesn't show any fear. death is just one step before she is reborn again.
yet her mind still wanders. their words repeating themselves in her head. ]

their words confuse corbenik; perhaps it's from all of the damage that she has suffered after the number of times she had been data drained. it nearly takes the last bit of corbenik's strength to try to makes sense of their words.
macha had been tasked to understand love (unrequited) and through his experiences corbenik observed what knowledge that he was able to gather before they struck him down. the others have spoke about how much they were going to love macha and expressed such things, however, when macha was "no more"—there was no love for macha. they expressed nothing for hatred for macha.
tarvos, by contrast, was to collect information about what vengeful feelings rested within people's hearts as they were confronted by things that they envied. as she had said once before; it had been poetic that the two of them were fought together—a beautiful (twisted) kind of (toxic) love that met its inevitable end. most fruitful, of all, was how she was able to see just how that vengeful, hatred kept festering within their hearts.
feelings that game to a head when gorre came descended on them; he faced them and shared what he learned of their cruelty. hidden behind a multitude of doors that all revealed a different kind of cruelty to experience. and what did she learn from seeing how they conquered cruelty by slinging spells and skills—attacking him—as he shared what he knew? they had claimed it was because they wanted to "save" him much had they came to her wanting to "save" her by viciously attacking her before she did anything.
it's a shame that she could not learn more from the other phases as they approached the others. then again, corbenik had learned plenty already. humans were cruel. human love was conditional. humans were vengeful and hateful. humans lied and masked their true intent. humans did what they could to continue and cared for little else. those were the feelings that she saw held in their hearts.
these were the truths that corbenik had learned as she was tasked to learn why humans were so fixated on their end and where their beginning started. in her experiences she had confirmed, time and time again, that it was attachment that kept in a constant balance of wanting things to end and valuing their beginning. "uta" had known this too, but when unna (who was this?) died, "uta" remained even though "uta" was nothing without unna. (why is it familiar?) she continue to live despite her death. was this not the same of a rebirth?
or was that not the case? no.... ɴᴏ. 𝐍𝐎. ₦Ø. Ñ̴͉͉̃̽̐̄̓̏̓͘̚O̴̜̗͉̳̻̣̘̦̭̠̓̊̑̂̄͗̄͑͝. there is only one way for them to achieve the same new life that corbenik could offer them. they had to die just as unna (she doesn't know this name) did. in death they are cleansed. purified. it is the kindness that corbenik can grant them even with her body as broken and damaged as it was. ...or would be able to grant them if she was allowed to move, but even though she is a hostage, she could still sing, right? if she just could find her voice.
unfortunately, the only voice that corbenik is able to find so weak that it's barely audible (if punisher remained close to her then he would hear her the clearest) and breaks, but nevertheless corbenik starts to sing. ]

But that's why it hurts.
His teeth gnash against each other until he finally opens his mouth to speak: ]
Uta and Unna are one and the same.
[ He loads a skill into the queue. Any skill, but he doesn't unleash it just yet. ]
Despite her idolized status, she's just as human like the rest of us. She laughs when she's happy. She cries when she's sad. She gets frustrated when things don't go well. She protects who are dear to her. Despite all that, she hides her pain and tries to carry the burden of her "sins" all by herself.
But those were never her sins to bear, just like how Shanks and Gordon... their deaths were never her fault. I told her before... it's not her fault. She's loved by so many people, and it's not like she has them to do her bidding. Her songs are genuine, her feelings are always genuine. Despite the stigma around Cubia, she still stayed in that "faction". She probably sees the good in everyone, or at least tries to.
And that's why I hate Cubia, the incessant unbearable ten year old, because that thing stomped all over her goodwill. I can't forgive that. I will never forgive that.

Punisher.
[ His voice is cold. ]
Drive your sword through her throat.
[ So that Corbenik can no longer sing. So that she can stop keeping Uta captive like this. So that— ]
If you won't, I'll end it myself.
[ With the skill that he already loaded. He has it ready to go at any moment. ]

[ It's obvious that Oria's not kidding. He's raised his claymore already so they can see Uta again. ]

Do you know what kindness is...
[ Punisher repeats the words of the song quietly as the sharp blade of claymore sinks into her throat. Tightening the grip on the hilt, he pushes forward, making the weapon go deeper and eventually pierce through Corbenik's throat. ]
You showed us kindness, Unna. Let us do the same for you.
[ Punisher's not stepping back, not until he witnesses Corbenik's last moment. Not until Unna's back. ]

Memoir doesn't act. He doesn't say anything. Everything that needed to be said has been spoken by now.
He'll prepare himself to strike again, in the meantime. For now, he will simply observe what happens from here. ]

But it's going to be a relief, seeing Corbenik's claws be forced away from Uta's person. To see her return. ]
...You can't stop it.
We'll be bringing her right back to us.
[ Ganymede doesn't do much else right now, seeing no need to.
Finish her, Punisher. ]
