He has thought these things before.
The familiar sensation is nothing but overwhelming, all-consuming.
He doesn't even hear the words of the song, feeling like taken away. Far, far away. Entrapped, and nowhere to go.
He falls to his knees. ]
M-Mich...
[ It's the only thing he can say. But, Ganymede can't finish his own words.
He's so useless, not even knowing for a moment which name he called out. Seeming too far away, too gone. ]

as the result of being hit by a data drain from one of the chosen of zelkova shreds away some of her defenses—one of her "petals" falling down behind her—and knocks her over momentarily. unfortunately, as each of them succumb to corbenik's king of songs elegy, she slowly recovers and stands back up before numbly looking at them and quietly mulls over the words that they had shouted at her before.
she watches them become her song—the embodiment what it means to be full of self-doubt, to intimately know what it's like never feel like you could be enough, to question your very expression of self. are you really who you are? what value do you bring? in fact, she brings her mic up to her lips again and starts to sing the song again, tot musica rising into action again but healing her for a meager 2% as she had not put any real effort into the song. she just wanted them to understand the pain they are forced to endure while they live.
and as corbenik continues to numbly watch them become what lies in the hearts of those who have clung to life—what "uta" might have held deep down in her chest despite her cheerful words and smiles. her bright optimism that brought smiles to many faces. a hypothetical sorrow and loneliness that only could come out through her songs. and yet, despite it, she "lived". or maybe it was better to say that "died"? what was her favorite music? what was her favorite food? ...what was it that she want most of all? what was it that her heart cried out for above all other things?
but the time for watching was over, corbenik wanted to know how their hearts had changed and jumps down from tot musica and places a hand down to the lake's surface where suddenly bundle of fibrous roots and piano wire shoot out and burrow themselves deep into ganymede's body starting from his feet and moving up his legs. they reach deep into him as she drains him 23% of his hp and sp to restore herself. ]
Cruel Exploitation.
[ her roots and wire quickly retreat back into the depths of the lake water and everyone is able to snap back to. (remember, the flavor/severity/how brutal of the kind of damage inflicted onto ganymede can be decided by a d20 roll.) enjoy all of that. i'm sure the others won't have to worry about that at all. especially as corbenik decides that she had been unfair to just pick on them individually.
bringing her "mic" back to her mouth, corbenik will start singing another song that will cause tot musica to move once again. the new song will cause tot musica to take wide sweeping a swipe with its claws at the party that will hit them for 7% of their hps. which means that our dear ganymede just lost 30% of his health. however corbenik is also back standing on the ""ground"" with the rest of them even if she may be obscured by tot musica.
...but considering everything, is attacking the next move you really should do? ]

Memoir looks over at everyone. Ganymede takes a giant hit, though, and his eyes widen in horror as the roots swiftly leave his body. ]
Ganymede-!
[ He does not have the will to attack Corbenik right now, given the song lyrics, which, perhaps, are an expression of Uta's deepest feelings...but he can at least check on his party member. ]
Are you alright?!
no subject
But it's fine. ]
...I'm alright.
[ Just give him a second. Considering he whiffs his next rolls, I'm just going to have him lie here instead. ]

[ Despite taking some big hits himself, he'll just hover around Ganymede for now, then... And he'll also look at Oriade and Punisher. Man, Corbenik did a number on them all, didn't she? ]
How are you two holding up?
[ But also...he frowns. ]
Did you understand those lyrics, too?
no subject
Not sure if he is directing the last question towards him at all so he will wait for Punisher and Oria's responses on that. In the meanwhile he will just complain as singing is going on, and finally slip into frustration: ]
Ugh...I don't understand. What are we doing wrong?
[ Not that it feels like necessarily there's anything indicating as such, but something about the way the attacks keep dialing up and inevitably reversing all of their efforts is something of an indicator to him? ]
no subject
Instead, he'll throw out an idea. ]
I don't think we can brute force our way through this.
[ Like they did with Macha and Tarvos...even with Gorre (probably idk time is fake). ]
I think...I think Uta – no. I think Corbenik is trying to draw something out of us. She could have killed us just now, while we were all in a trance, but she didn't. There's something more to what she's doing.
[ He is emphasizing Corbenik because he is certain the real Uta would never do such a thing. She would never want to benefit from other peoples' suffering. ]
no subject
It's good to see Gany up, even if he can imagine the toll that last attack took on him. The way Corbenik targets them one by one—despite that last attack—is unfortunately a strategy that seems to be paying off. ]
We can't afford to let Corbenik attack us either while we're trying to figure it out.
[ He has to agree with Memoir here, though. Offense being the best defense isn't just working here. ]
All that talk about the end and new beginnings... she could have just killed us off there and prove her point. Uta must be still fighting.
[ Or he could just be delulu. ]
no subject
She's showing that she's willing to listen to us. She still needs data, but what if we can try speaking to her directly? Let's try to shake her out of it. Memoir got through to Mithrun that one time, remember? Maybe we can do the same here.
[ So Oriade gets up. ]
Follow my lead.

Uta, that day—when we talked the day after your passing... are you still lonely? Does gathering data help fill in the void of what you lost? Do you still want to maintain your distance because you're scared of how we could get hurt? We're getting hurt already. Your demon friend slapping us around hurts. Your ability to make us feel less than human also hurts. For a moment, I resonated with your song, even though I shouldn't have. I know my self-worth. I know I'm enough. I know that no matter what, there will be people who will stay with me through thick and thin.
Were you trying to show us something? Were you trying to show us how you felt? That you'll never be enough? You were always enough, Uta. You still are. You have us—all of us. You'll never be alone again.
no subject
And so, he does. ]
Oria is right.
You're not alone. I would never let you suffer through this by yourself.
That's why I'm here too. To let you know I haven't abandoned you. We're all here for you, and we won't accept losing you to whatever void is out there that dares trying to swallow you up, Uta...
...And we refuse to allow it to leave nothing. To let it wipe yourself clean as a 'rebirth', and to drown you in 'death'.
no subject
We want to see you again, Uta. We're not leaving without you. If you think that you're alone, you're a fool. [ Affectionate. ] It's fine, though. Whether you're foolish, cheerful, depressed... we're not giving up on you. You're not getting rid of us.
no subject
You don't need to always be happy, or smiling, or feeling strong, Uta. Happiness, sadness, hopelessness... If you feel them, they're all still your feelings. We want to know them...all of them. And if this is what you'd like us to hear, we are listening.
Do you hear us, too? Do you hear what we're saying?
These feelings of ours were never conditional. You don't always have to be smiling to make us happy. You being here has always been enough.
Please. Come back.
