( Perhaps intrigued by the mail allegedly sent by CC Corp, perhaps visiting the Shoreline by chance, gating into the Area goes as it always does, until the music stays cut for longer than it should, and the black, liminal transition screen lingers for a little too long. The seconds tick on. They near turn to minutes. You can't struggle, you can't argue— you can only simply be, and it occurs to you that maybe you'll be trapped midway here, conscious, for maybe forever.

And then you hear static. Your vision warps; pixels strain into words, blurred and unstable. You see them combat for your attention; you see— )

You're gonna be real embarrassed about this after! [Dehya raises her blade to strike (8) but Hector's staff smash throws her off balance and the arc misses.]

[Miharu crit failed on someone asking her to hit them, so here's the flavor text for that horrible failure. I will let Soupie decide just how far Hani's HP values really did drop.

She raises her burning-hot blade to auto-attack, the extra fire damage on her sword enough to still do enough damage. It's fine, because they can heal that up, right? Like pouring water into a sieve, constantly. Over and over again, just to be hurt again.

At the very last moment, the attack swings out of place and misses. Even she seems surprised that she couldn't do it. Maybe it's the lingering influence of the charm; even if it didn't catch her in that void of unrequited feelings, she can't pretend - and hasn't been able to, for most of this battle - that she doesn't understand the emotional bias eating at the core of the data. Unloved. Spiteful. Fleeing.

She stands over Tabibito, looking at the sword that swung wide and hard to the pulsing terrain, then back to them. Just how much (health) have they lost? Do they really need to be stabbed again, while they're kneeling, still?

Bending down as if to raise them to their feet, she reaches out and... slaps them for one whole hit point of damage. Thanks for making slapping a free action.] Up you get. [Either roused from their status effect or to face her normally for one more attack.]

You should yell at Oriade after this. He probably scared a lot of people with that.

He should be awake again, yeah.

Barrett! [Shortly after knocking sense into Hector, Dehya pivots to rush Tarvos with a Vak Maxima attack (14). Eat fire!]

Do you see everyone?! We're all here for you! You and Morgan! And we're not gonna leave either of you alone, no matter how long it takes you to remember that!

[ After smacking sense into Shoka, Kara sees that Macha has been healed. Not good. She has yet to repay him for possessing her, too.

She'll switch her attention to him and go for a King Hammer (6). ]

[ Macha, you are so lucky Haru healed you. Time to whittle your HP back down again with Dragon Strike (7). Memoir is going all-out, but the part of him that's afraid of killing Macha for good holds back a little damage-wise. ]

[rebelles]

[ Annnd she's metaphorically football tackled into the sand! Thanks, friends. Her HP flashes red and critical at 8%, enough to break the spell and let the horror of what she's done sink in. Haru draws herself up to her knees weakly, hiding her eyes under her hat. ]

Memoir, Sinclair... I'm sorry, I'm just hindering everyone.

[ Here comes another laugh as Hector sidesteps the swing. ]

Speak for yourself. Embarrassment is trivial compared to what Macha has to offer.

[ He lends himself to the momentum of his movement and thrusts his staff forward, aiming the sharp part for her solar plexus again (5), but it skids harmlessly off her armor. ]

Which is? [Dehya returns the thrust (4) to no avail.]

[ He grins. ]

Why don't you give in and find out?

[ Again, as he moves out of the way of the sword, he brandishes his staff above his head and spins it, aiming to let it collide hard with the side of her head (16). ]

[Dehya doesn't dodge in time. There's a resounding crack against her skull and Dehya staggers, unable to counterattack (1).]

[murrmoire]

You're not a hindrance. You've done so much for other people; let us return the favor.

[ He'll give her some healing potions to get some of her HP back, and then he'll hold out his hand to her, to help her up. ]

[ If it weren't for the charm, Hector would be panicking. Hell, things wouldn't have gotten this far to begin with, for obvious reasons.

But as he is now, that crack is satisfying to his ears. He stares blankly at Dehya as he raises his staff, dog tags clinking together as he casts MeRai Don (6), right on top of her. Soon, he hopes, she'll understand what he means. ]

[While Hector is distracted casting his spell, Leo jogs up and bonks him right on the head with his staff. (16)]

Snap out of it, Hector!

[Dehya's head is spinning. But she pulls together all her resolve to save Hector from himself and punches him in the face (14). Incidentally, at the same time Leo smacks him over the head as well.]

[ That'll do it.

Hector's getting ready to hit Dehya with his staff again when two impacts come at once—the hit on the head, and the punch to the face.

With his health reaching 40%, the black halo shatters with the impacts, and his charm is undone. He staggers in his vertigo, free hand clutching his head. ]

Ow... [ Did Dehya really have to punch him in the face? He needs that for Purposes!!! ] What the... What was I—?

[Shoka is continuing to swing and miss when it comes to actual enemies and not friends (Reaper's Touch, Tarvos, 4) but that won't stop her from yelling anyway.]

Don't think you can just cover up your ears and ignore us! You always reached out a hand to us - if you won't come to us for help, it's our turn to come to you!
