[ At some point, Sinclair has managed to been released from the confines of bed rest and returns to the guild. He pauses at the door, his brow furrowing and then moves to sit with Memoir first]

...hey.

[murrmoire]

[ Oh, Sinclair. Noé glances up at him, and his expression falters a little. He looks like he's trying not to burst into tears. ]

I didn't keep my promise. I told you...I told everyone that I would help her.

[insinning]

... you did help her.

[ Sinclair says softly, pressing a hand to Noë's shoulder. ]

For everything you all went through to help her when no one else could.... thank you.

[murrmoire]

You...but -- she didn't -- she didn't make it, Emil. Even though we killed Corbenik, she shouldn't have gone with her!

[ He doesn't quite understand what Sinclair means, but his voice sounds like he wants to believe it, that they did something for her, in the end. ]

That's...that's the opposite of helping, isn't it?

[insinning]

Sometimes, saving someone doesn't mean making sure they live.

[ His words feel strange; but there's a rightness to them too, some intrinsic knowledge from another life]

Sometimes it's letting them chose their own ending with dignity, with self respect...surrounded by people who love them.

[He knows this well. After all...]

[murrmoire]

[ Noé is quiet as he considers Sinclair's words.

... ]

Unna smiled as she passed. We were all there with her.

[ It hurts to think about it. It brings him to tears, and he has to wipe his eyes with his sleeve. ]

...She died as herself. You might be right about that.

[insinning]

[He nods, reaching out to hold Noe's hand, his expression soft. He squeezes her hand]

I know what you had to do was the hardest thing in the world...but you did right by her.

[murrmoire]

[ The gesture is gentle. Noé ducks his head and squeezes Emil's hand. Soon, there are tears falling from his eyes, onto his lap. ]

...Thank you, Emil... I... I can only hope that we brought her peace.

[insinning]

I know you did.

[Sinclair sits there, quietly comforting. No more words need to be said. Noe should try as much as he needs to]

[murrmoire]

[ Sinclair is a wonderful friend.

Noé takes a few moments to get more tears out of his system. He doesn't wail, doesn't sob loudly...he just continuously wipes at his eyes with his free hand.

It takes a few minutes, but he calms down eventually. ]

We'll...we'll do better next time. Won't we?

[insinning]

We will. [Sinclair sits patiently until Noe is ready. There is a lot of things he could say, but none of them need to be said right now. There's time in the future. He takes out his handkerchief and offers it up] Just remember we're all in this together. All of us.

[murrmoire]

[ Noé takes the handkerchief and wipes his eyes, but he looks at Sinclair – he can't help it.

He pulls Sinclair into a brief but very warm hug. ]

Emil...you're a great friend.

[insinning]

[Oh--Sinclair smiles and hugs Noé in turn]

I'm glad you feel that way.

[murrmoire]

[ After a moment, Noé pulls back. There's a sad but genuine smile on his face. ]

Sorry, I just... I've heard you, Emil. I'll do my best to keep going, for all of us. For Unna.

[insinning]

[Sinclair smiles back, his expression softening]

We're all here to support each other. You're not alone in this, okay?
