I'll come with you, I have a few new skills I want to test. We should all aim to get leveled up. After we've gotten sufficient rest, of course.

[ophidie]

The same should go for you. [At least Haru seems to have gotten some sleep, if Miharu being up and out of her room earlier than she was is any indication. Miharu was also up ghoulishly early.]

I think it's probably all right if we wait until tomorrow to go.

[The little smile fades from her face as her expression sobers.] Mithrun confirmed that Data Drain is capable of killing outright. There may not always be a chance to save someone if they're hit. Keep it in mind.

I wonder if a part of them subconsciously held back. The damage was critical, but not irreversible.

[ It may just be her optimism coming through, but either way, she is just relieved Miharu and Winter are fine. ]

Are you feeling alright today? No memories out of order?

[ophidie]

[That's hopeful in a way that's so much like Haru, a way that she can't be, and she sighs, though it's a little softer.]

Putting aside that I might not be able to tell if they were...

I am. It feels kind of weird to say that, given the circumstances. There don't seem to be any lasting effects for me.

That's a relief.

[ Especially knowing how corrupting data drain can be. Haru eyes meet Miharu's, and she says sweetly and threateningly: ]

If anyone tries that again, I'll give them hell.

[ophidie]

You're a little terrifying. [She huffs a laugh. Haru has always been capable and dangerous ever since they met, but it's only more recently that she's really seen it directed towards protecting others.]

Worry about yourself, too. There doesn't seem to be any way to stop it.

[rebelles]

We'll just have to knock them out before they have a chance to use it.

[ This whole phase business has been making Haru snap and choose violence. On a more serious note, though, she looks down at her hands. ]

I'm honestly a little frustrated with how poorly I fought last battle. I wonder...Miharu-chan, would you be willing to train with me?

[ophidie]

We had no way of knowing what to expect, but next time we should be more prepared for the status effects.

[The tiniest twitch, like she's thinking about reaching out a hand to reassure Haru. Maybe she's already burned past her embarrassment threshold when it comes to offering awkward physical comfort, because she hesitates before putting her hand back in her lap around the handle of her teacup.]

I'd be happy to. Let's do it when we know what we'll be working with? [Haru had mentioned wanting to test out those new skills, and she needs to finish her leveling. Then they'll know what tools they have to protect against the next phase.]

We'll have to steel ourselves emotionally. I may have been too soft last time, but I don't want to lose sight of who I want to protect anymore.

[ She's always been a bit of a pushover, and maybe that was why the charm was so potent. As much as Haru wants to be the self-assured leader the Operatives deserve, it doesn't come naturally to her as it did Arsène. Miharu's support fills her with determination though, and when she thinks of how close a call that data drain attack had come, her feelings are even stronger. ]

Count me in too. My own crafted armor isn't as good as Cubia's...but it still works for what I want it to do.
