Memorial Making

[In case people want to add to the memorial for Hien, Nanase is here with crafting materials and journals - the volumes making up Hien's log of his life.]

Something small... maybe like a roadside shrine?

[ Sinclair had sent off his respects with Fuurin a few days ago, so he feels a little steadier now ]

A roadside shrine?

Yeah. Like a little house to protect the journals or anything else someone wants to leave.

[Since it's not like anything can actually come to inhabit a shrine in this world...

...Right?]

Maybe something like this?

[Sinclair will take some paper and draw out a small box that resembles a small house for a bird or something. His drawings here are oddly neat and precise, like he's used to drawing straight lines without a ruler, almost mechanical in their quality.]

Not too big, and we can leave one shelf for something else...

Yeah, like that. If there's empty space, people could bring flowers or food, too.

Mm. Then, something like this shouldn't be too hard to craft.

What materials do you think we should use?

"Very Scary Black Cherry" might be good, since it's a darkness element...but maybe the "Silent Sakura" from the Hotsprings to match the flower trees at the wall...

[Hmm]

...I think we should use the silent sakura.

[Hien could definitely be scary. But he doesn't really want to emphasize that on the memorial.]

[Sinclair will take the silent Sakura out of his inventory then and lay it out]

Did you want to use any mining materials too?

I think just the wood should be okay... unless we want to make metal pieces to hold the journals?

Hmm...we could add metal to the joints to reinforce the wood and keep it together...but I don't think metal is needed to hold the journals unless we want to close it off.

[A beat as he thinks]

...we should add Makoto's there too, since they were together...

[He nods.]

I was just thinking of a holder or something to hold them up, but we can use metal on the joints. Are there any good warm-colored metals?

[ Well he does eventually pop into the guild and sees all of this. His mostly hermit tendencies do not exclude guild activities, apparently. ]

...What is that, exactly? Something for those who had passed?

...I see. I don't find it to be a bad idea.

Whatever anyone would like to leave in their memory or pay respect to, they certainly can.

[ He can always draw up a portrait of Hien...problem is that he never met Matoba face to face, so hrm. ]

[tbh neither has Nanase, but it just seems right to keep them together.]

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. And maybe a spot for things that don't really last, like flowers or food?

That sounds prudent. Flowers and food seem to be the only things that would expire swiftly.

...I don't suppose you know what Makoto looked like?

[ He doesn't know Nanase doesn't know. He can just ask later everyone else in the guild, however. ]

[There was a guy at the meeting but he never checked his name on accounts of things getting Chaotic.]
