MAC ANU ~ GANYMEDE'S MCMANSION

The everpresent afternoon sunset hangs, echoing picturesque across the glass windows apparent at each spot within the large building. In a large room full of tables and what not are heaps of various cuisine settled here or there. Seafood, pastas, drinks, the like; Mediterranean style so if nobody likes that...gomen.

Ganymede has made it clear that he prefers people to be here in order to get themselves together. Sorted, somehow. They're all acting with a sort of independence he seems disinterested in disturbing, but he wants the prospect of potential solutions to be floated along.

If someone has new information they can share, well, it is encouraged. If not, he hopes that they will at least participate in some way.

It now begins.

I firmly believe if it originates from a dungeon, it would be a non-standard one. Though, considering the possibilities, and likelihood of this effect being more widespread depending on if he and his associations also frequent non-standard dungeons, I believe hypothetically that the origin is unlikely to be from a specific dungeon per say.

Though, I have nothing to concretely back up such a supposition. I imagine there are also 'areas' that would not be classified to consider as 'dungeons' at all to consider as well, with that in mind. Which we may or may not know of as of yet. I would focus a higher likelihood upon those 'areas', and NPC interactions in particular.

[ Still not anything so concrete to make his comment seem more comforting, but sometimes you work with what you have—digging will in time reveal those answers. Marking off possibilities for potential investigation only makes looking into the subject far easier, whether or not the hypotheticals are correct or not.

Such is the nature of research, which at the heart of it all connects to one singular, but important rule:

The ability to persist in the search of answers, even if it pisses people off. ]

...Uta said that they were all invited to Dismal Waning Descent. She said she didn't know what would happen if you tried to get in without permission. If it's a dungeon effect, maybe it could induce a sort of...feeling of protection for Lily...

[The main sources of the conflicts are long gone now. He can talk freely]

Or it is Lily itself that can induce that feeling.

I imagine someone like that would have other areas to visit as well. Though it isn't like such information would be common knowledge.

[ For what are obvious reasons. Still, it gives him something to go off on... ]

If Lily can induce that sort of effect, I wouldn't be surprised. We have been experiencing odd changes in a myriad respects just by visiting dungeons. It could be that Lily also sees a need to create that feeling as well.

Those who are young would crave a desire to be protected. [ ...Pause, before he slowly adds: ] Usually, by their elder family members or parents. If there is a vacuum in this regard, I wouldn't be surprised by the desire to create one. Even if artificial.

So they deliberately sought out people who were...older. People inclined to be protective, you mean?

[ It's a psychological thing, and yet ]

But how does someone younger induce that level of worship?

Those selected do not exactly all seem to fit the stereotype to be protective, from what I have observed of their personalities from their actions or words.

[ His gaze briefly slides on over to Matoba as he says this before he brings it back to Sinclair. ]

But they do seem to at least mostly relatively mature than most. Or, as you have said, are inclined to be protective.

...And as for your question, in this case, I imagine by unnatural means.
insinning: (concern; this isn't good)

['Relatively mature' hmmmmmmmmm]

It's hard to work that out when we don't have a baseline or know the limit of Lily's powers.

[ Albedo is being charitable and even he knows it. Though he didn't say all of them were... ]

Unfortunately, that remains the case.

Though, perhaps we can outline potential topics or avenues to pursue, which can lead to ways to ascertain the nature of that AI's capabilities, including more of those possible limits.

Then, we can format them into questions to ask them of particular people or NPCs.

I don't know if NPCs will be of particular help here. But who did you want to ask in particular?

[Hmmmm ]

I guess...do AIs have the power to completely shape someone?

[personal profile] alchemicalbirth 2023-10-20 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
No one.

[ albedo ]

There is one question. How about for the next ones...

"What is the meaning behind that poem about the Cursed Wave?" "What is the Cursed Wave?" "Who is the twilight dragon and the man who relates to the dragon?
insinning: (neutral; brooding)

[ALBEDO]

I felt like the only one who would know that is Zelkova. But even Zelkova doesn't know everything.

[AND HE IS FRUSTRATINGLY VAGUE]

Have you spoken to Zelkova before?

[personal profile] alchemicalbirth 2023-10-21 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
If he may know so, then you may as well ask, even if he doesn't know everything.

[ He says simply, not seeing the issue here...because he has zero interest in asking him anything himself. Not because he sees Zelkova as uninteresting but I ain't got time for that. ]

I haven't, no. I had other ways to spend my time in-game.

[ Which includes not engaging with AI or NPCs for the most part, apparently. ]

...you know, you seem to like having me ask NPCs things.

[JUST A FEELING HERE.

Is Albedo...shy]

[ ...yes. Yes he is.

He keeps to himself most of the time, actually. ]

...As I understand it, you have shown that you excel in such matters. Though there are others who also engage heavily in such interactions, I see no detriment to extending such encouragement to yourself.

[...this is how Albedo 100% gets the shabu shabu party invite tbh]

...I guess so. But I did already ask Zelkova about the poem. He said it was important, but didn't know much more than that, and didn't know the redacted names from the poem.

[ Hecking crying

Incidentally, Albedo tilts his head. ]

Did you ask how he knew it was important?
insinning: (thinking; biting my thumb)

[personal profile] insinning 2023-10-21 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
I need to go back to reread our conversation. But he did say Emma Wielant wrote it so...

[Maybe Sinclair had assumed, who knows]
alchemicalbirth: (18)

[personal profile] alchemicalbirth 2023-10-21 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It can't hurt to ask for clarification.

[ Even if Emma Wielant counts as 'important' in his book, there doesn't mean there's another reason too. ]

The same for the Twilight Dragon? He might know something about that.
insinning: (smile; go with the flow)

[personal profile] insinning 2023-10-22 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
If you want me to ask for you, I'd be happy to.

[Albedo...]

[ Albedo looks at Sinclair, expression for a moment appearing as mildly sheepish (for him, anyway)? Before easing just a little. ]

...Yes, I would prefer it if you did so.
insinning: (smile; a happier look)

[personal profile] insinning 2023-10-23 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, I'll ask. And anything I learn I'll tell you.

[Assume all of Sinclair's public inbox threads with Zelkova are now Albedo's information to know \o/]
