[ On hearing his name shouted, he does stop, giving a little spin around to face Dehya that sends the skirts of his robes flying about. ]

FlameMane! My dear! Why, how are you doing this fine evening?

[ A greeting, amused as always, as though he hadn't been doing anything weird at all a moment ago. ]

A lot better before you showed up! [Honestly, terrible all around! But a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.]

Don't think I didn't see you dragging those monsters in! Stop running and face me!

Ha, but I did stop! See? Here I am!

[ And he is! Standing there, facing her, waiting for her to catch up. ]

But that is quite the accusation! Why do you think I am not merely out on a stroll and those monsters happen to be bothering me?

[Dehya comes to a stop just a few feet away from him.] Cut the crap, Fandaniel! You and I both know you weren't just innocently strolling around. Don't you think it's time to stop treating this like a game before your griefing gets someone actually hurt?

[ Stop treating it like... stop treating it like a game? Fandaniel can't help it. He nearly doubles over in laughter, laughing and laughing at poor Dehya. ]

Stop? Stop? Ha! Haha! No, of course not! I want to see! See how they manage, how far they will go to fight for their lives, for their futures!

[ Ah, but then the laughter trails off and he takes in a breath, straightening up again to smile at her. ]

Because that is what you fight for, isn't it? You labor until you collapse to ensure you have one at all, yes?

[Dehya grits her teeth. What a selfish statement. But Fandaniel has always been like this, right? It's why she always stands opposed to him: because of how much fun he gets out of other people's suffering.] Yeah, and you reap the benefit of us protecting you while throwing it back in our faces! You want to see me fight? Fine--let me knock some sense into the blockhead of yours!

[She shifts her blade in hand and charges.]

[ Is it, though? The same man who huffed and puffed about how many people claimed to care and then angrily made them all breakfast? ]

Oh dear, so much for claiming to protect me.

[ Said in that obnoxious sing-song way of his but, see, the thing is, he doesn't move as she charges. Does she truly wish to strike him down? Will she? Fandaniel remains where he is as she comes at him with the sword and spreads his arms wide as if to welcome her. ]

Come, FlameMane! Strike! Save all of your doomed little friends from me!

[All that matters, in the end, is what she sees. The villain. And so she charges, twisting her blade to level the broad side of it to whack Fandaniel's side with the push of her strength.]

[ Fandaniel takes the blow to his side and while Dehya takes mercy upon him by turning her blade, striking him with the broad side rather than an edge, it still does more, way more, than she may have expected it to. There is the sickening crack of bone and he is thrown violently against the nearest wall of the buildings that bracket the alley they're in.

It cuts his laughter short, at least, but only for... a short time. He grapples at the wall to keep from falling to the ground, a laugh bubbling up again along with a cough, a dribble of blood staining his lips. ]

A.... aha... th-that's right... finish me off! Save the... the day!

[There's a crack.

Fandaniel is barely on his feet. Dehya's chest heaves with the heavy breath of exhaustion.

The thing is, she'd only intended to knock him off his feet. It was the carnival again. It was a warning blow. Just enough to knock sense into him. Just enough for a warning.

The blood drips down his lip. Dehya's gaze is locked on it. It pierces clarity in her anger.

Her sword hits the ground with an echoing clatter. Dehya rushes over, hands out to try and support his way.] Hey, don't force yourself. Come on, sit down.

[ He's reeling with too much shock and pain from how badly that strike went, just how much damage that alone had caused, so he can do little more than allow her to grab at him and keep him from sliding down the wall to sit. Although, it may be better if he were off his feet... ah... he doesn't know...

But what does know is that he's still laughing at her, albeit weakly now. ]

Wh... what? Where did the avenging hero go, FlameMane?

I didn't mean--[Stricken, she bites the word off. No, she focuses instead on getting his weight against her so she can lower him to the ground more gently, to sit with his back against the wall.

Then she's pulling out potions.] Just stay still. Hold on. Can you drink this yourself?

[God, what has she done?]

[ Honestly, that just makes it even funnier, and his laughter shakes his broken ribs hard enough that it devolves into another fit of coughing. Once that trails off, however, he'll hold a hand out for the potion, at least. ]

For what little good it'll... do... heh...

[ Healing is practically pointless by now. ]

[Dehya pops the first cork off and offers the bottle. Once Fandaniel has taken it, she'll ready the second one.] I'm going to call a healer but drink this for now, okay? It'll still do something.

[She has to do something. Anything. As she's offering Fandaniel multiple potions, she also pulls up her friend's list to DM Hector.]

[ Fandaniel will drink the first potion but that will be it. Once that's done, he merely discards the bottle and makes another attempt to move away from both Dehya and the wall. This is unsuccessful, meaning he has to stabilize himself against the wall once more as he stumbles in his attempt to, well, leave. ]

...why bother? Don't... waste their time with me...

[ Ugh, he sounds so. Gurgly. To himself, even, and he doesn't like that, nor is he entirely sure why that is. Internal bleeding, probably. ]

--Fandaniel. [Dehya rises faster, grabbing his shoulders.] It's not a waste of time! Hector's already on his way so just hold on, okay? You are not going to die.

[ Hector arrives promptly.

It doesn't take long for him to find either of them. And when he does, his eyes widen at the sight. As he rushes in, he looks between Dehya and Fandaniel, alarmed. ]

What happened here?

[ He kneels by Fandaniel and reaches to move his head so he can get a better look at his bloodied mouth, how his eyes focus, casting Pha Repth as he does so. ]

[ Hector? She called Hector? Well, of course. Who else is there to call? The silver lining here is Fandaniel is less inclined to give him a hard time whereas he might taunt Dehya further even as he suffers. On closer inspection, it's clear the problem isn't with his head or face in spite of the bloodied lips.

The healing spell comes regardless, however, and it settles the rest of his pain that the healing potion couldn't quite get, however temporary it might be. ]

Just... a simple misunderstanding. That's... all.

[ Which isn't really the truth, now is it? But his gaze will dart towards Dehya quizzically, wondering if she will accept that and let it slide. ]

[Yeah who the hell else do they have, honestly.

She doesn't quite look up at Hector once the healing actually starts. Fandaniel tries to slip it under. She doesn't know why, it doesn't feel right to let her off the hook for this. But--] ... Something like that. Right now Fandaniel needs a lot of help. It's--probably broken bones and internal bleeding.

[First thing's first is making sure Fandaniel is stabilized. This isn't the time for any arguing or guilt.]

Worse, if we're unlucky. [ A punctured organ isn't...something he's confident in treating right now, but he'll have to make do. His eyes flit up to Fandaniel, a tinge of worry in them.

But Hector quickly gets to pressing the flat of his fingers against various parts of Fandaniel's torso, gauging Fandaniel's reactions. That'll tell him where things are broken, if they are. ]

But tell me what happened. How did you get hurt?

[ This is a question for Dehya, too, if Fandaniel decides he doesn't want to reply. ]

Oh, you know.

[ Fandaniel is quiet. It's difficult to breathe and speak at the same time, so the words come slowly between heavy breaths and there'll be a long pause before he can even try to answer again as Hector presses against his side. This is because all Hector has to do is press to get the man to stiffen and go pale from pain.

It hurts, it hurts, and he grabs at Hector's hand clumsily, trying to stop him. ]

...don't.

[ Ah, looks like he won't be answering the question after all. He can hardly think of something humorous to offer in response right now. ]

[Dehya cringes. For a moment she backs up as Hector handles Fandaniel. She turns to gather the other potions up again and bring them back. She doesn't grab her sword.]

You're trying to figure out what's wrong, right? [Fandaniel doesn't want to explain, and she doesn't know why, but at least--] He was hit with--it was blunt force. How much more can you heal him?

[ Blunt force to the side, it seems like. Broken ribs, judging by the way Fandaniel reacted to him just touching him. Hector pulls his hand away when Fandaniel grabs it, and he glances over his shoulder at Dehya. ]

I can keep him up and alive, if that's what you're asking. But I need to see the extent of the damage. Help me.

[ He waves Dehya over before turning to Fandaniel again. His hands grip the hems of his robes and gently tug at them. ]

I need to see how bad things are, so I'm taking off your robes. Can you take a deep breath for me?

[ If it had been Nanashi and not Hector, he may have laughed messily over how he had been trying to cause trouble, but...

Not that it matters. He isn't going to waste more effort and breath on words when he needs to keep air in his lungs instead. He's asked to take a deep breath and he knows that's going to hurt, but after giving the both of them a faintly nervous, pained look, he'll comply.

He takes in a deep breath, though he lets out a shaky whimper at the end of it. Ah, the hurts, too, that hurts. As for the robes, well, he isn't going to argue, but they're sure going to find a, uh, human-sized bitemark slowly healing where his neck meets his shoulder once all the layers of gear are off. Don't worry about it, it's fine, totally unrelated. ]

[Absolutely nobody is concerned about your hickey here, Fandaniel.]

Okay, tell me what you need me to do. [And she'll do anything she needs to, help with the robe or help him down or--it's the least she can do. It's all she can do.]
