“I see now that the path I choose through the maze makes me what I am. I am not only a thing, but also a way of being—one of many ways—and knowing the paths I have followed and the ones left to take will help me understand what I am becoming.”

Dosei had received not one, but two ( 2 ) invitations to this, which is mildly jarring on it's own, and he'd normally decline on principal of hating crowds. It's not as easy to avoid people indoors like you can at the beach.
But whether it's his desire for some sense of normalcy or the fact he's really fucking hungry, he's still here. One small, antisocial creature, probably crammed near the corner with a cola in hand. It's...pretty clear he's never actually eaten anything like this before, by the way he squints suspiciously at the pot of broth and hasn't made a move to touch anything quite yet. He's not even gonna try the chopsticks; Hard pass on embarrassing himself. ]

<< Ramiel. You made it >>
[Smiling at him. He hadn't been sure if Ramiel would have come but it's nice to see him too]

He's still not quite in a hurry, busy watching everyone else's examples, so he pokes the tongs experimentally before actually responding. ]
<< I had two of you nagging me, so I figured I might as well. >>
[ 'Nagging', which means 'actually invited him and he doesn't want to admit he came just because'. Why do these people have so many friends, though...]

<< and here I thought it was for the free food. >>
[But Sinclair smiles open and happy]
<< Tylor and I are glad to see you though. >>
no subject
<< That too. Hector keeps too much jerky and marshmallows in the guild hall. >>
[ He's not exactly a culinarian, so cooking isn't his forte...he hasn't eaten a normal cooked meal in. Well. Probably a while. ]
<< Pretty sure it wouldn't have made a difference anyway. But thanks, I guess. >>
no subject
<< If you ask Tylor, he'll make anything for you >>
[You just gotta brave the Hani gauntlet for food. Also shaking his head.]
<< No it definitely makes a difference. >>
[Especially now that you have made him concerned for you!!! ]
no subject
But his frown dips just a bit more after seeing who's near him, and his head snaps back. ]
<< Pass. >>
[ No, Dosei will not be elaborating, thank you. Moving on. ]
<< And pretty sure you've got enough people here already that I wouldn't have been missed. >>
no subject
<< Just because there's more people than usual doesn't mean we wouldn't notice. >>
[ He wont use the dreaded friendship word and make Ramiel want to run away though ]
no subject
<< Right, because you're such the social butterfly. Is there anyone around here you don't know? >>
[ Is this derogatory...?? Unsure at the moment. Regardless, he finally leans over with a squint to gently add some noodles to the broth with his tongs. Hunger is winning even if he has no idea what he's doing. ]

<< You'd still talk to most of them, though. >> [ Probably. ] << I wouldn't. Crowds give me a headache. >>
[ Which is why he's in the corner, like a cactus on the edge of the coffeetable. A tiny, blue cactus. ]

[Was Sinclair always a wallflower? No. But he didn't have that ease of charisma either]
no subject
<< You act like they don't do that often. Everyone around here either doesn't give a fuck or never shuts up. >>

he frowns. ]
<< Haven't eaten this stuff. Never done it before. >>
that icon is so pretty omg
[ already reaching for the tongs ]
Itās all up to you.
[ though there is what deto considers the right, most efficient way ]
in his ikemen era...
[ A squint at that hand reaching for the tongs...does he trust Deto...debatable.
Hmmm. ]
<< Too many vegetables. I like meat better. >>
no subject
[ but heās putting in more meat as requested ]
no subject
<< What makes you the expert. Do you eat this stuff a lot or something. >>
[ He is SCRUTINIZING that pot. ]
no subject
[ heās not putting in too much stuff since he doesnāt know what kind of eater this guy is, but thereās a little bit of everything ]
But think about it. Itās a pretty easy meal to make, yeah? Just chop up some meat, cut up a bunch of veggies, buy the seasoning for the broth and you have a big meal for a lot of people or a huge meal for just you.

<< Only special occasions I'm used to are fancy parties or those obnoxious charity galas. Definitely not what you'd eat there. >>
[ He's staring at the items being added, making a notable squint at most of the vegetables, but he's not complaining. Yet. ]
<< I can't cook, anyway. I tend to just eat leftovers they leave me or stuff I can shove in the microwave. >>
no subject
[ definitely sounds more fancy than what heās used to ]
This is the most low effort cooking. Youāll see, youāll see. The meat should almost be done.
[ thinly sliced only takes seconds, which is the best thing about shabu shabu ]
no subject
[ He hates suits, actually.
Dosei watches the meat cooking with a squint, casting an incredulous look at Deto. ]
<< Wouldn't know since I don't go near the stove. If it tastes like ass, I'll punch you. >>
no subject
Try it first, punk.
no subject
Maybe if Vogel wouldn't give me shit.
[ 'Shit' he says, like Sinclair wouldn't be just be offering a very stressed 'please don't do that'. ]
