It hurts. It hurts, that hand around his throat - it hurts, the water burning in his windpipe, down to his lungs.
It hurts, the inability to breathe.
And yet...
Perhaps it's the charm, or perhaps it's just the boy himself - either way, even suffering as he is, even inching closer and closer to death...
That same faint, empty smile remains to the last.
